President Osmani met with Germany’s Special Representative, Manuel Sarrazin
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received today the German Federal Government Special Representative for the Western Balkans Manuel Sarrazin and the German ambassador to Kosovo, Jorn Rohde. The latest developments in the north of the Republic of Kosovo following the terrorist attack by Serbian criminal groups which resulted in the death of a policeman and the injury of several others. Madam President emphasized that the terrorist actions and the act of aggression in the north are orchestrated and implemented by structures supported by Belgrade. Such actions constitute an infringement of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kosovo, and Serbia should be sanctioned for these actions. Despite these efforts, Kosovo has taken actions in recent months to de-escalate the situation in the north of the country, and the Kosovo Police has shown high levels of professionalism in dealing with Serbian criminal groups. President Osmani pointed out the importance of support by international allies and continuous coordination with them in efforts for lasting peace, security and stability. President Osmani reiterated that the actions of the Kosovo Police against illegal structures and Vucic’s criminal groups are legitimate, in fulfillment of their constitutional duties and in defense of all citizens, without distinction. The results expected from the Berlin Process Summit which will be held in Tirana during the month of October were also discussed.

Dear Bunjaku family, please once again accept our deepest condolences, Dear Speaker of the Assembly Mr. Konjufca, Dear Prime Minister Kurti, Dear representatives of institutions, Minister Sveçla, Police Director, Mr.Hoxha Representatives of allied countries, Ladies and gentlemen, Honourable compatriots, We have gathered at this funeral ceremony to bid our last farewell to our police officer, Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku, who until yesterday was a guardian of our security, but as of today, he is a hero of Kosovo. He defended the order, law, territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Kosovo, he defended the dignity of our Republic, and for this reason today, on behalf of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, I will bestow upon him, post mortem, the highest order of Republic, the Hero of Kosovo Order. As of today, our country has another hero, there is one more remembrance for a man who with professionalism and dedication dedicated himself to the defense of the Republic for which he fell in charge. Today we are honoring a true hero, a brave and selfless police sergeant who sacrificed his life for the safety of all our citizens. As you know the life of a police officer is a life of service, sacrifice and courage. Afrim Bunjaku, as well as all members of the Kosovo Police, were challenged by the terrorist gang directed by Belgrade yesterday and did what was necessary. They restored the law, protected our territorial integrity and sovereignty and restored dignity. Our hero, Afrimi, was a strong pillar of the Kosovo Police. He was a devoted servant of his country, constantly faced with challenges and dangers, but above all he showed unparalleled bravery. He stood his ground in defense of the law and against the terrorist groups supported by Serbia, whose aim was to destabilize not only Kosovo but to disturb our entire region. Afrim reminds us that heroes are not born, but become such through their deeds and sacrifice, and Afrim is an example of these values. Patriotic values were nurtured in his family. The struggle to establish law and order is one of the greatest challenges in any society. It requires not only the highest level of skill and bravery but also a deep sense of commitment to the principles of justice and freedom. Our hero, Afrim, has embodied all these qualities throughout his career, standing as a relentless defender of our values and our freedom. Let his heroism inspire us to stand united against the dark forces, against terrorism, against those who still deny our existence and aim to destabilize our state. Let his legacy serve us as a reminder that heroes are always among us, as determined defenders of the foundations of the Republic of Kosovo. No one will be able to bring the Republic of Kosovo to its knees and disgrace it, as long as there are girls and boys like Afrim, who put the interest of the Republic before individual fate. Those who fell on the altar of freedom, heroes like Afrim and our Republic, are eternal! Glory to him, and may the memory of the hero Afrim Bunjaku be eternal. Today, in front of you, I have the honor to award the order “Hero of Kosovo” post-mortem to Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku on behalf of all the citizens of Kosovo. This order is awarded to him for his sacrifice in the line of duty, heroically defending the territorial integrity, sovereignty and constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo. I invite the family representatives to receive the order.
President Osmani declared Monday a day of state mourning in honor of the murdered policeman, Afrim Bunjaku
The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, pursuant to the Constitution of Kosovo, has decided that Monday, September 25, 2023, is declared a day of state mourning in honor of the policeman Afrim Bunjaku, killed in the north of the country. The state mourning will be on Monday, while the State Protocol is charged to undertake all the necessary actions for the implementation of this decision.
President Osmani’s statement following the attacks on the Kosovo police in the north of the country
“The killing of a policeman and the wounding of another policeman in the north of Kosovo, planned, orchestrated and executed by Serbian criminal gangs, is an attack on law and order in the north of the country, it is an attack on Kosovo. These attacks demonstrate once again the destabilizing power of criminal gangs, organized by Serbia, which have been destabilizing Kosovo and the region for a long time, as has been proven by the attacks on KFOR members, journalists and citizens. Organized attacks against the law enforcement forces of the Republic of Kosovo are attacks against the sovereignty of the Republic of Kosovo. In addition to strongly condemning this open aggression by Serbia towards Kosovo, I expect our allies to support Kosovo in its efforts to establish law and order and preserve sovereignty in every part of the Republic of Kosovo. We express our deepest condolences to the family of the murdered policeman and we assure them that the perpetrators of these terrorist acts will not be able to escape justice. I call upon all citizens, institutions and political entities to remain united at this time when the territorial integrity, security and sovereignty of our Republic are being openly challenged. As the President of the Republic, I have full confidence in our boys and girls of the Kosovo Police”. The Office of the President announces that due to current circumstances, President Osmani has canceled all the activities planned for Monday and Tuesday in New York and as of today, she will be departing for Kosovo.
President Osmani met the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha
The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, who is staying in New York where the 78th session of the United Nations Assembly is being held, had a meeting with the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein BrahimTaha. During the meeting, President Osmani expressed her appreciation for the ongoing support and commitment of the OIC, especially for the annual Resolution initiated by the OIC, which calls for the recognition of Kosovo by all member states of this organization. In this spirit, the President expressed the hope that the member states, which have not recognized Kosovo’s independence, will do so in the near future. President Osmani and Secretary General Taha reiterated their commitment to the promotion of stronger and more productive relations between Kosovo and the OIC. According to President Osmani, Kosovo has considerable untapped potential for foreign investments in various sectors. In this context, President Osmani laid out the need to explore possible areas for economic cooperation between Kosovo and OIC member states, with a special focus on trade and investments. At the meeting, President Osmani invited Secretary General Taha to visit Kosovo in the near future to further examine the possibilities for the expansion of mutual cooperation.
The First Gentleman was invited to the reception hosted by the First Lady of the United States
The First Gentleman of the Republic of Kosovo Prindon Sadriu, attended the reception organized by the First Lady of the United States of America Dr. Jill Biden during the High Level Week of the United Nations General Assembly. In conversation with Dr. Biden, the First Gentleman expressed deep gratitude for the support provided by the USA, as well as for the unique relationship built over the years. Likewise, the special connection that the Biden family has with Kosovo was reconfirmed, and both sides also discussed the possibilities for an even firmer strengthening of the relations between the two countries. On this occasion, the First Gentleman pointed out once again that Kosovo would be honored with a visit of the presidential family in the near future. At this reception, the First Gentleman met and had the opportunity to talk with the First Ladies and officials of both amicable countries, as well as of non-recognising ones.
President Osmani met with the Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell

President Osmani at the Global Conference of Women Leaders (GPWC) 2023: it is essential to understand that leadership does not recognize gender
During the high-level week of the United Nations General Assembly, President Vjosa Osmani was the main speaker at the Global Conference of Women Leaders (GPWC), which was held at the same time. On this occasion, speaking on the topic of “Advancement of women’s transformative leadership for sustainable global impact”, President Osmani emphasized that while we face more and more global challenges, the power of diversity and inclusiveness in leadership positions cannot and should not be underestimated. “In our efforts to advance the effectiveness of women’s transformative leadership, it is imperative to guarantee their empowerment in all spheres of life. This means providing equal opportunities in education, employment and leadership roles through challenging stereotypes and prejudices that persist in our societies”, emphasized President Osmani. She also spoke about the importance of fostering an environment that guarantees and enables their voice and ideas to be heard and valued. In this address, President Osmani also spoke about the extraordinary successes and engagement of the women of Kosovo, showing their endurance, courage and dedication to the increase of well-being and strengthening of the society in general. President Osmani emphasized that the promotion of transformative leadership for positive global impact is not a choice, but a necessity and it is our collective responsibility to nurture these qualities in us and in future generations, always respecting and advancing gender equality. Their unwavering commitment to freedom made them stoic, courageous and persistent. As such, they were immortalized, becoming the personification of self-sacrifice for the country’s freedom. Xheva and Fehmiu faced with unwavering determination for the ideal of the generations, the dream for freedom and state. They always remind us of the difficult road to freedom and the dedication that must be borne to maintain freedom and to further strengthen the Republic for which they fell! President Osmani met with the US Deputy National Security Advisor, Jon Finer
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, who is staying in New York where the 78th session of the United Nations Assembly is being held, had a meeting with the Deputy National Security Advisor of the United States of America Jon Finer. According to President Osmani, at a time when security in the Western Balkans and throughout the European continent is being challenged, the role of the US is crucial in maintaining peace and security. In this context, President Osmani emphasized that despite the current political and security developments in the region, Kosovo remains committed to peace, dialogue and partnership. “We are committed to the expansion of relations with the USA to the strategic level. We need more political cooperation, as we do in the field of security in order to protect joint achievements,” emphasized President Osmani. According to President Osmani, Kosovo’s membership in NATO and the EU is in function of peace and stability in the region and beyond. The latest developments in Kosovo were also discussed during a part of the meeting. President Osmani said that Kosovo has undertaken measures to de-escalate the situation in the north of Kosovo and is committed to working with allies, especially the US, to address security challenges. According to President Osmani, Kosovo is committed to the full implementation of the 2023 Brussels agreement. Lifting of EU measures against Kosovo will enable the constructive resumption of the dialogue, while the US role in the dialogue is a decisive one,” pointed out President Osmani.
