President Osmani met with the US Deputy National Security Advisor, Jon Finer

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, who is staying in New York where the 78th session of the United Nations Assembly is being held, had a meeting with the Deputy National Security Advisor of the United States of America Jon Finer.

According to President Osmani, at a time when security in the Western Balkans and throughout the European continent is being challenged, the role of the US is crucial in maintaining peace and security.

In this context, President Osmani emphasized that despite the current political and security developments in the region, Kosovo remains committed to peace, dialogue and partnership.

“We are committed to the expansion of relations with the USA to the strategic level. We need more political cooperation, as we do in the field of security in order to protect joint achievements,” emphasized President Osmani.

According to President Osmani, Kosovo’s membership in NATO and the EU is in function of peace and stability in the region and beyond.

The latest developments in Kosovo were also discussed during a part of the meeting.

President Osmani said that Kosovo has undertaken measures to de-escalate the situation in the north of Kosovo and is committed to working with allies, especially the US, to address security challenges.

According to President Osmani, Kosovo is committed to the full implementation of the 2023 Brussels agreement.

Lifting of EU measures against Kosovo will enable the constructive resumption of the dialogue, while the US role in the dialogue is a decisive one,” pointed out President Osmani.
