The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received the credentials of the new Ambassador of the Republic of Albania Petrit Malaj and congratulated him on his new tenure and expressed her hope that during his mandate the bilateral relations between the two sister states will be further intensified. According to President Osmani, cooperation between Kosovo and Albania, especially in the unification of foreign policy, remains a priority. “Continuous strengthening of diplomatic coordination is in the interest not only of our countries, but also of the region as a whole,” stated President Osmani. At the meeting with Ambassador Malaj, she potentiated that Kosovo expects Albania to be the voice of Kosovo in the international mechanisms and organizations in which our country currently has no representation. President Osmani also informed Ambassador Malaj with the latest developments in the country as well as with the act of aggression of Serbia against the Republic of Kosovo, emphasizing the importance of addressing Serbia’s responsibility and applying punitive measures on this country. The two interlocutors agreed on the expansion of cooperation in various fields of mutual interest and stated the need to implement the interstate agreements signed to date.
President Osmani commemorated the 24th anniversary of the assassination of Haki Imeri

On this 24th anniversary, we commemorate a grand activist and patriot, a man with unwavering commitment to the movement for independence. Facing danger and different challenges, Haki never retreated but combined his work as a teacher with patriotic activity. His zeal came to a treacherous halt when he was assassinated on November 2, 1999, due to his political convictions and political activity in the service of the motherland and the nation. Let us honor the memory of Haki, as the dedication to the ideal of freedom, may he be a permanent inspiration for generations!
President Osmani received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation Jürg Sprecher

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received the credentials of the new Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Kosovo Jürg Sprecher, whom she congratulated on his new tenure and expressed her hope that during his mandate the bilateral relations between the two countries will be further intensified. President Osmani met with the US Ambassador to Kosovo Jeffrey Hovenier

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received in a regular meeting the Ambassador of the United States of America Jeffrey Hovenier, with whom she discussed the latest developments in the country as well as other issues of mutual interest. The latest developments in the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia were also discussed at the meeting, with President Osmani emphasizing that Kosovo has consistently shown itself to be a constructive party, while Serbia continues with the selective approach that prevents the full implementation of the Brussels agreement and the Ohrid annex. She also stated that the proposal for the draft statute of the Association should be subject to a review by the Constitutional Court. President Osmani once again underlined the importance of close cooperation with the USA in achievement of progress in the dialogue process.
President Osmani received Dora Bakoyannis, rapporteur for Kosovo’s application for membership in the Council of Europe

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today Dora Bakoyannis, rapporteur for the Political Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Kosovo’s application for membership in the Council of Europe. President Osmani has called Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe not only a priority of the Republic of Kosovo, but also a necessity for the protection of human rights and the well-being of all citizens, without distinction. In this context, President Osmani expressed her appreciation for rapporteur Bakoyannis’ visit in respect of the preparation of the opinion on Kosovo’s CoE membership application, stating her confidence for a fair and merit-based process. According to President Osmani, Kosovo has incorporated the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and other international documents into its Constitution, ensuring the rights of all citizens, including non-majority communities, the rule of law and democratic governance, as has been shown through the assessments of several international organizations. “Kosovo is committed to meeting all the Council of Europe membership standards. The Constitution of Kosovo already includes the key conventions of the Council of Europe, making them applicable in Kosovo. In this spirit, Kosovo is strongly committed to European values, including democracy, human rights and the rule of law,” emphasized President Osmani. During the meeting with the rapporteur Bakoyannis, Madam President underlined that Kosovo expects the debate and voting of the Opinion on Kosovo’s application to take place as soon as possible, in order to for it to proceed with the formal voting on its membership by the Committee of Ministers. “Next year, the Council of Europe will mark the 75th anniversary of its establishment. Thus, it would be very symbolic for the Council of Europe itself, as the main human rights organization on our continent, to open the door to a democratic country that aspires to join the family of values,” stated Madam President.
