This is the theme of this year’s European Forum Alpbach, where I had the honor to discuss at the main panel, together with representatives of other countries. The expansion of the European Union with the democratic states of the Western Balkans, the protection of the principles and values of human rights, the rule of law and democracy, as well as the unification in the fight against autocracies and tyrannies, are the features that make a courageous Europe. Despite the fact that it is a long and difficult road, European integration is the only way for Kosovo. The Euro-Atlantic family is our family!
President Osmani participates in the European Forum 2023

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani Sadriu has departed for Alpbach, Austria, to participate at this year’s edition of the European Forum Alpbach 2023. In this Forum, President Osmani will be the keynote speaker in the main opening panel of the Forum, which will focus on reviewing the current enlargement policy, addressing the current political and security challenges, as well as Kosovo’s advancement on its path to European integration. During the Forum, President Osmani will hold a conversation with the young scholarship holders of the European Forum from the region, the diaspora and the world, with a focus on recent developments in the country, but also Kosovo’s position towards political developments in Europe and beyond. The European Forum Alpbach is among the most prestigious institutions in Europe which, since 1945, gathers every year leaders, Nobel laureates, academics, scientists and different personalities from around the world to discuss ideas for a stronger and more democratic Europe.
President Osmani expressed her condolences on the passing away of the actor Xhevat Qorraj

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, has expressed her condolences to the family, to the National Theater of Kosovo, the Kosovar cinematography and to the cultural community, on the occasion of the passing away of the actor Xhevat Qorraj. “With deep pain I received the news of the death of actor Xhevat Qorraj. Theater and cinematography lost a great actor, the public their admired one. I convey my most sincere condolences to the family, friends and cultural community,” says President Osmani’s consoling message.
President Osmani visited the municipality of Klina

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani visited the municipality of Klina today, as part of the visits to the municipalities of the country. President Osmani’s full post: Thank you Klina for the hospitality! We started the visit to this municipality, located among picturesque landscapes, which stands out for its diversity and religious harmony, with a fruitful discussion with the mayor Zenun Elezaj on the challenges the municipality is facing, as well as various projects benefiting its citizens. In conversation with the youngsters, members of the “Ardhmëria” organization, it was encouraging to hear about their voluntary initiatives and the extraordinary potential for the future. It was also a pleasure to get to know the work carried out by businesses of the municipality, including the makers of the”Grembeer” craft beer, children’s clothing manufacturer “Vesbaby”, the “Duhani” plant as well as the “Elava” company, which is run by women of non-majority communities. The entrepreneurial and creative spirit of the women and men of Klina, who through their work are increasing the well-being and opportunities of citizens without distinction, was impressive. In the Parish of Zllakuqan, I thanked the residents of the village, who in 1999, opened their hearts and homes and came to the aid of those deported by the Serbian genocidal regime. Thank you again for the warm hospitality to all the citizens of Klina, including our expats, and see you at the next municipality!

President Osmani’s full post: Kindness and solidarity in challenging times made me return to Zllakuqan in Klina, whose residents in 1999 helped thousands of residents from the Mitrovica region who had been driven from their homes by the Serbian genocidal regime of Serbia and forced to walk all the way to the border with Albania. The noble hearts of Zllakuqan made possible the triumph of compassion over genocidal war and the victory of solidarity over fear, so thank you from the bottom of my heart, for reaffirming faith in the power of kindness!

President Osmani received the credentials of the new Ambassador of Austria, Georg Schnetzer

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received the letters of credence of the newly appointed ambassador of Austria Georg Schnetzer, whom she congratulated on his new tenure and expressed her hope that during his mandate, the bilateral relations between the two countries will continue to intensify further. According to President Osmani, Austria remains an important ally, an ally which has supported Kosovo in various stages of its state building. President Osmani thanked Austria for its steadfast support, emphasizing the importance of the continuation of this support in the integration of Kosovo in international organizations. At the meeting with Ambassador Schnetzer, President Osmani expressed the need to strengthen the partnership between Kosovo and Austria, as well as cooperation in the field of education, culture, trade, as well as other areas of mutual interest.
President Osmani visited the municipality of Dragash

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani visited today the municipality of Dragash, as part of her visits to the municipalities of the country. President Osmani’s full post: Concluding the visit to Dragash, which is blessed with fascinating nature, rich cultural heritage, diversity and hospitality. At the meeting with mayor Bexhet Xheladini, we discussed the joint efforts to promote not only the amazing prettiness of Dragash but also the exceptional economic potential. We continued the activities at the municipal assembly, in a meeting with the assembly members, families of the martyrs, with our esteemed members of the diaspora and the representatives of non-majority communities. We later met with the women from the Gorani and Bosnian communities and discussed the excellent work they carry out to empower women and girls of all communities. The meeting with the fantastic young people of Dragash was also inspiring. Their commitment to using information technology to provide innovative solutions reflects the endless potential of our country’s youth. At the end, we visited the “Meka”, “AEG” and “Hit Flores” businesses which, in addition to the production of various quality products, are contributing to the increase of employment opportunities for the citizens of the municipality. President Osman received the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye Mehmet Kemal Bozay

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye Mehmet Kemal Bozay, accompanied by Sabri Demiri, advisor to the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The excellent relations between the two countries and the possibility of their further expansion were discussed at the meeting. President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo’s relations with Turkey are strategic and that the Albanians living in Turkey and the Turkish community in Kosovo are a strong bridge between the two countries. In this context, President Osmani thanked Turkey for supporting Kosovo in the process of independence and state building, requesting further support for the integration of Kosovo in international organizations. President Osmani discussed with Deputy Minister Kemal Bozay bilateral cooperation, the organization of a business forum of the two countries, as well as cooperation in the field of foreign policy, defence, security, healthcare and other areas of mutual interest. President Osmani repeated the invitation to her counterpart President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for a visit to the Republic of Kosovo at a time convenient to both sides. In relation to the political and security developments in the country, President Osmani also discussed the concrete steps taken by the institutions of Kosovo for the de-escalation of the situation in the north of the country in accordance with the agreement in Bratislava. President Osmani stated that the presence of the Kosovo Special Police in and around municipal facilities in the north has already been reduced, while work continues to complete the legal infrastructure for new elections in the four northern municipalities through citizens’ petition.

President Osmani’s full post: Ulpiana is a journey through time that reveals the hidden treasures of our past. Every excavation reveals fragments of our ancient civilization. From the Kingdom of Dardania to Emperor Justinian, there are centuries of our tangible heritage which connects our present with the distant past. The recent excavations in Ulpiana (Justiniana Secunda) present important evidence on the history of Dardania and the Dardanians of the late Antiquity-early Middle Ages.
