President Osmani received in an introductory meeting the newly appointed Minister of Defense Ejup Maqedonci

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received the newly appointed Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, in an introductory meeting yesterday.   President Osmani congratulated minister Maqedonci on his new tenure and wished him success in his engagements.   President Osmani highly praised the achievement to date in the development of the Kosovo Security Force and emphasized the importance of further engagement in the advancement of the KSF towards the full development of professional and operational capacities in accordance with NATO standards.   In this context, President Osmani assured that the Ministry of Defense will always have her unsparing support in achievement of the goals set by the state.   On the other hand, minister Maqedonci thanked President Osmani for her support and promised that he will be fully engaged in the accomplishment of his duties.  

President Osmani received the participants of the NEWBORN Kosova international festival

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani welcomed today the participants of the NEWBORN Kosova international festival . “Today at the Presidency I received the participants of the NEWBORN Kosova international festival, with around 300 international artists from 9 countries of the world participating at this event. Dancing has a transformative power and represents the values of tradition, friendship, joy and unity,” wrote President Osmani.

Each and every one of their stories is encouraging and makes the whole country proud. The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today in a regular meeting the ambassador of the United States Jeffrey Hovenier, with whom she discussed the developments in the country and the continuity of the concrete steps that are being taken in accordance with points agreed in Bratislava. The developmental projects carried out by the USA in Kosovo, the US support to the security sector as well as the importance of increase of such cooperation in areas of common interest, were also discussed at the meeting.

President Osmani expresses her condolences for the passing away of former rector Zenel Kelmendi

He was and will remain a respected figure who has left his mark through his contribution and dedication. His work will be an inspiration to many generations. President Osmani decreed Mr. Ahmet Ismaili to the post of the Governor of the Central Bank of Kosovo

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, following the decision taken by the Assembly of Kosovo, decreed the appointment of the new Governor of the Central Bank, Mr. Ahmet Ismaili. She congratulated Mr. Ismaili on his appointment by the Assembly of Kosovo, wishing him success in the realization of the tasks and responsibilities stemming from this important position. According to President Osmani, the Constitution, laws, integrity and professionalism should guide him throughout the work in state institutions. Mr. Ismaili presented his vision for CBK, as well as the promotion of sustainable growth based on commitment to public service, efficient and transparent.

President Osmani received the German Ambassador Jorn Rohde

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the Ambassador of Germany to Kosovo Jorn Rohde, with whom she discussed the latest developments in the country as well as the work being carried out to implement the issues agreed in Bratislava. President Osmani praised the cooperation with Germany and confirmed the steadfast partnership between the two countries. President Osmani and Ambassador Rohde also discussed this year’s edition of the Forum for Women, Peace and Security.

President Osmani received US Senator Jack Reed

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani met with Senator Jack Reed, chairman of the Armed Forces Committee in the US Senate. According to President Osmani, Kosovo is a success story of the involvement of the United States of America in the path of freedom and state-building. “The USA has no greater ally and friend in the region than the Republic of Kosovo, which has the most pro-American people in Europe and the world,” President Osmani emphasized. Furthermore, President Osmani thanked Senator Jack Reed for the US support to the Kosovo Security Force (KSF), respectively Kosovo’s inclusion in the US Military Training Assistance with the National Defense Authorization Act 2024. At the meeting with the delegation of the US Congress, President Osmani potentiated that Kosovo’s goal remains membership in NATO, as well as in the Council of Europe and the EU. “Kosovo aims for membership in NATO and inclusion in the Partnership for Peace (PfP), hence the US support in accelerating this process is important and necessary. Our hope is that Kosovo will be in the PfP as soon as possible as a step antedating NATO membership”, stated President Osmani. In relation to the political and security developments, President Osmani said that Kosovo has taken steps to de-escalate the situation in the north of the country, but pointed out Serbia’s destabilizing actions and its cooperation with Russia. She also stated that Kosovo is a multi-ethnic state, whose Constitution guarantees a high level of protection of the rights and freedoms of all communities. According to President Osmani, these rights and freedoms are the essence of the values of Kosovo society and as such should remain intact.
