The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani expressed her condolences to her Slovenian counterpart Natasha Musar, stating her readiness to help our Slovenian friends and allies. “Sincere condolences to President Musar and the people of Slovenia over the casualties & damages caused by floods and deadly landslides. Kosovo stands ready to assist our Slovenian friends and allies in order to overcome these heartbreaking times,” wrote Madam President on Twitter.

President Osmani in Istog bestowed honours on KLA martyrs and other dignitaries, paid homage, met the elderly and visited a business

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, as part of her visits to the country’s municipalities, visited today the municipality of Istog. President Osmani was initially received by the mayor of the municipality of Istog Ilir Ferati. President Osmani then paid tribute at the statue of the historic president Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, to then continue with tributes at the Imeraj family from Padalishta. In the framework of this visit, President Osmani bestowed presidential medals on KLA martyrs, activists, and sportsmen and visited a Home for the Elderly. Madam President also visited the Josiq family’s house in the village of Veriq. At the end of the visit to Istog, President Osmani visited the “Onix” business. We were welcomed by the mayor Ilir Ferati and we discussed the challenges but also the opportunities for the municipality of Istog to develop even faster. We paid homage at the statue of the historic president Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, to then continue with tributes at the Imeraj family from Padalishta, whose 19 family members were killed in 1999. With the massive presence of our diaspora and the citizens of Istog, I honored KLA martyrs, activists and sportsmen with presidential medals. At the Home for the Elderly, we had a warm meeting with the elderly, who have contributed to the common good. Meanwhile, in the village of Veriq, I visited the house of the Josiq family, which was burned down days ago through a barbaric act, but funds have already been allocated for its reconstruction. Kosovo is home to everyone without distinction, while Istog has always been a good example of the coexistence of all communities. I ended my visit to Istog, with a visit to the “Onix” business, a spa that presents an extremely impressive environment due to the thermal waters that provide opportunities for healthcare treatment. The President: Femicide perpetrators deserve capital punishment

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani has said that the perpetrators of femicide deserve capital punishment. Just as the murderer and torturer of Marigona Osmani was sentenced today. “The perpetrators of femicide deserve capital punishment. Just as Marigona Osman’s murderer and torturer was sentenced today. Let this be a message to all those who choose violence against women as a means. Violence will not be tolerated! Femicide will stop!,” wrote President Osmani.

President Osmani received an IMF delegation

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today a delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) led by Gabriel Di Bella, Head of the IMF Mission to Kosovo. On this occasion, President Osmani thanked the IMF team for their engagements and their support to Kosovo through continuous technical and financial assistance and encouraging policies that support sustainable development and economic prosperity. The two extremely positive developments in the framework of cooperation with the IMF were discussed in more detail at the meeting,  the Stand-By Agreement (SBA) through which liquidity is provided in the event of materialization of challenges in the field of food and energy security as a result of Russian aggression in Ukraine, as well as the Sustainability and Resilience Facility  (SDR) Agreement through which affordable financing will be provided to support Kosovo’s climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts and greener electricity generation. On this occasion, President Osmani emphasized the importance of having additional commitment so that the projects and support provided through these mechanisms are as tangible and understandable as possible for the citizens of the country, in order to ease the burden and deal with economic challenges and difficulties from their side. The latest developments in the field of security in our country and the importance of coordination and clear communication in order to guarantee the successful implementation of joint projects were also discussed during the meeting.

President Osmani and Minister Aliu meet for COP28 preparations

President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received today the Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure Liburn Aliu. The focus of the meeting was the preparations for Kosovo’s participation in COP28, which this year is being held in the United Arab Emirates. The invitation to the Kosovo delegation, led by President Osmani, to participate in the high-level discussions within COP28 represents a historic and very important moment in terms of the country’s commitment to the implementation of the climate agenda. The developments and achievements in the field of drafting and approval of important legislation in the field of climate change, but also the importance of inter-institutional coordination for a successful representation of the country at COP28 were discussed at the meeting. President Osmani and Minister Aliu agreed to coordinate engagements and communication during the coming months, emphasizing the great importance of successfully and effectively addressing the challenges arising as a result of climate change in order to guarantee and advance the well-being of citizens. Numerous projects and important initiatives in the field of environmental protection and infrastructure construction, which are important for the increase of local efforts towards the advancement of the Green Agenda and the improvement of the connecting infrastructure in the country and the region.

President Osmani received Ambassador Hovenier

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received today in a regular meeting the ambassador of the United States of America Jeffrey Hovenier, with whom she discussed the latest developments in the country with a focus on the work being done in implementing what is agreed in Bratislava. President Osmani emphasized that the threats from Serbia and its criminal groups upon Kosovo policemen of non-majority communities are aimed at discouraging the communities in Kosovo from participating in public institutional life. President Osmani reiterated that these types of acts must be condemned by everyone. Bilateral cooperation between Kosovo and the USA was also discussed at the meeting,  praising the projects that contribute to the expansion  of these relations. The need for further intensification of cooperation in this direction was also potentiated at the meeting.

President Osmani signs the Law on Early Childhood Education: An important step towards the strengthening of our education system

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani has signed the Law on Early Childhood Education. “Happy to have signed the Law on Early Childhood Education, a pivotal step towards strengthening our education system. The more time kids spend in preschool, the more productive they become as adults. I commend the Ministry of Education for its work on this important law,” wrote President Osmani.
