The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye Mehmet Kemal Bozay, accompanied by Sabri Demiri, advisor to the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The excellent relations between the two countries and the possibility of their further expansion were discussed at the meeting.
President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo’s relations with Turkey are strategic and that the Albanians living in Turkey and the Turkish community in Kosovo are a strong bridge between the two countries.
In this context, President Osmani thanked Turkey for supporting Kosovo in the process of independence and state building, requesting further support for the integration of Kosovo in international organizations.
President Osmani discussed with Deputy Minister Kemal Bozay bilateral cooperation, the organization of a business forum of the two countries, as well as cooperation in the field of foreign policy, defence, security, healthcare and other areas of mutual interest.
President Osmani repeated the invitation to her counterpart President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for a visit to the Republic of Kosovo at a time convenient to both sides.
In relation to the political and security developments in the country, President Osmani also discussed the concrete steps taken by the institutions of Kosovo for the de-escalation of the situation in the north of the country in accordance with the agreement in Bratislava. President Osmani stated that the presence of the Kosovo Special Police in and around municipal facilities in the north has already been reduced, while work continues to complete the legal infrastructure for new elections in the four northern municipalities through citizens’ petition.
