The President: Kosovo will stand by Ukraine until victory

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, at the invitation of Prime Minister Edi Rama of Albania and alongside the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and other leaders of the Southeast Europe countries, is representing Kosovo at the Ukraine-Southeast Europe Summit, which was held in Tirana. Below is President Osmani’s full post: Ukraine’s victory is Europe’s victory! It is a victory over those who want to destabilize the Western Balkans and restore the mentality of violence and destruction! It is the victory of freedom! For this very reason, Kosovo will stand by Ukraine until victory.

Below is the full commemorative note by President Osmani: On February 28th 1998, Milosevic’s genocidal regime  committed indescribable atrocities, taking the lives of 24 innocent Albanians in Likoshan and Qirez of Drenica. This tragic day is a testimony of the brutality exercised on our people by Serbia’s criminal regime in the very heart of the resistance, in Drenicë. In the face of such horror, the determination to fight for liberation only strengthened. The KLA girls and boys  sacrificed everything for the freedom of our country. On this 26th anniversary, we honor the memory of those we lost. Their legacy lives on in our hearts, while their sacrifice motivates us to continue in search for justice. May the memory of those killed in the massacres in Likoshan and Qirez be eternal!

President Osmani represents Kosovo at the Ukraine-Southeastern Europe Summit in Tirana

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, at the invitation of Prime Minister Edi Rama of Albania, has travelled to Tirana to represent Kosovo at the Ukraine-Southeastern Europe Summit. President Osmani will be alongside the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and other Southeastern Europe leaders at this Summit. On the second anniversary of the commencement of Russia’s unprovoked war in Ukraine, the Summit aims to reaffirm the joint commitment of the Southeast European states in support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. A call to the international community to strongly increase the support for Ukraine, as well as a discussion on concrete assistance made by the SEE countries to Ukraine are planned to be carried out at the Summit.

President Osmani was received by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, who is currently on a visit to Qatar, was received by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. The further deepening of relations and expansion of cooperation in various fields such as healthcare, mountain tourism, infrastructure, as well as other projects of importance to Kosovo were discussed at the meeting. A number of investment projects in strategic sectors were particularly discussed, discussions on which will resume via relevant teams in the coming days. President Osmani also raised the issue of the treatment of war invalids from the ranks of the KLA, who require prosthetic services. The increase of support in strengthening of the position of Kosovo in the international arena was also one of the discussion points. Madam President thanked the Emir of Qatar for his continuous support to Kosovo and its people.

President Osmani at the Kosovo – Qatar economic roundtable: Kosovo with extraordinary potential for investments

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, who is currently in Qatar, has participated at the economic roundtable between the Republic of Kosovo and the State of Qatar which is being held in Doha, where the investment potential in our country is being discussed. At this economic roundtable with the participation of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Qatari member businesses, the mayor of Pristina Mr. Perparim Rama and a number of the most successful businesses from Kosovo, discussed the many opportunities for business partnerships and investments in strategic sectors. Speaking about Kosovo’s development potential, President Osmani emphasized the fact that Kosovo already has a legal infrastructure aligned with EU laws, a tax system standardized with the best international standards, a friendly environment for foreign investors and exceptional potential for investment in various fields. President Osmani singled out the opportunities for cooperation in the food industry and food safety, energy, hotel and mountain tourism, wood and metal industry. Mayor Rama also presented the plan for the development of Prishtina, with a focus on a series of capital and infrastructural projects from the field of sports, art, transport and beyond. This roundtable also served as a platform for Kosovar businesses to promote their businesses and to discuss the possibilities of direct cooperation with Qatari businesses. During the economic roundtable, many opportunities for partnerships and joint projects were highlighted, and it is expected that soon a delegation of Qatari businesses will be visiting Kosovo in order to concretize the cooperation. During this visit to Qatar, President Osmani will also hold meetings with state officials of Qatar to discuss the possibilities of expanding cooperation between the two countries will also deliver an address at the Web Summit, which is this year being held in Doha.

President Osmani received the credentials of the Ambassador of Qatar, Jabor Ali Hussein Al Hawashela Al Dosari

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the credentials of the non-resident ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Kosovo, Jabor Ali Hussein Al Hawashela Al Dosari, whom she congratulated on his tenure. At the meeting, President Osmani expressed her appreciation for Qatar’s continuous dedication to the strengthening of bilateral relations with Kosovo as well as the contribution made in this direction over the years. According to President Osmani, the relations between the two countries are very good, and in this context, she expressed her trust that they will intensify even further during the mandate of Ambassador Al Dosari. President Osmani also expressed her confidence in the continuation of support from Qatar both in the process of Kosovo’s membership in international organizations and in strengthening Kosovo’s position in the international arena. President Osmani and Ambassador Al Dosari also discussed the possibilities for cooperation in various fields, particularly in the fields of economy, agriculture, energy, healthcare and alike. Also, many issues in the fields of bilateral cooperation, this year’s edition of the International Forum for Women, Peace and Security, as well as other important issues of mutual interest were discussed.

President Osmani received the US ambassador Jeffrey Hovenier in a regular meeting

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the US Ambassador Jeffrey Hovenier in a regular meeting. The latest developments in the country with a special focus on the proposals which provide sustainable solutions on the transition plan for the implementation of the CBK regulation were discussed at the meeting. While discussing various aspects of bilateral cooperation, President Osmani reiterated her deep appreciation for the permanent support of the USA to the sovereignty, constitutionality and territorial integrity of Kosovo. Cooperation in terms of the international agenda in the forthcoming months, as well as cooperation in the field of defense were also points discussed at today’s meeting.

President Osmani received the Head of the EU Office and the Ambassadors of France, Italy and Germany

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received the Head of the EU Office in Kosovo Tomas Szunyog, the Ambassador of France to Kosovo Mr. Olivier Guérot, the Ambassador of Italy Antonello De Riu and the Deputy Ambassador of German, Mathias Conrad, with whom she discussed the current developments in the field of politics and security. At the meeting, the preparations being made for the holding of elections in the four municipalities in the north of the country in accordance with the legislation in force were discussed. Madam President reiterated that the right to request the removal of the presidents through signatures is a right that belongs to the citizens and that she now expects that all the necessary procedures will be carried out by the CEC in accordance with the law and the administrative instruction in force. At the meeting with the ambassadors, President Osmani emphasized the immediate need to lift the EU measures against Kosovo, which are unfair and create a lack of balance in the dialogue, and at the same time pointed out that Kosovo has taken concrete steps in accordance with the agreed plan for this matter. The lifting of the measures, she added, would create a much more positive atmosphere for the continuation of the principled dialogue where both sides would be treated equally. She also reiterated that unfortunately Serbia is not facing responsibility for the instigation of the attack on KFOR soldiers in May, nor for the aggression attack against Kosovo in September last year. This situation, according to her, can encourage Serbia to increase its destabilizing actions in the region. A part of the meeting was also devoted to the issue of the implementation of the CBK Regulation, with Madam President reiterating that it is important that this regulation is not being requested to be repealed, but simply to work on a transition plan for its implementation which also considers the concerns of all citizens who may be affected by such a decision. Potentiating the importance of implementing the Constitution in every corner of Kosovo, the President added that success in this direction is also related to the level of cooperation with our allies who have always been the strongest supporters of the independence, sovereignty and security of our state.

President Osmani at the meeting with the Women Economic Forum: The new Labor Law should be approved as soon as possible

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received today the representatives of the Women Economic Forum, led by Mrs. Saxhide Mustafa. The urgent need for the approval of the new Labor Law in the Assembly of Kosovo was discussed at the meeting. President Osmani emphasized that the full and equal integration of women and men in the economy is a long-term strategy to stimulate economic growth and the active participation of women in the economy. In this spirit, the President emphasized that reducing the gender gap in the labor market not only increases the social and economic well-being of women but also contributes to the general well-being of newborns and families. Therefore, the new labor law that addresses these needs must be per EU directives and be processed as soon as possible in the Assembly. In particular, the importance of policies related to parental leave was discussed, as an important measure that should be regulated by this law. President Osmani and the representatives of the Women Economic Forum discussed possible models of parental leave, which have been proposed by civil society organizations, and which enable and encourage the active participation of women in the economy, based on the best international practices. President Osmani and the Women Economic Forum also discussed the importance of gender-responsive budgeting as an important measure of both central and local institutions. At the meeting, a call was made for greater commitment from all relevant institutions to develop and implement fair and efficient policies that address the specific challenges faced by women in the labor market.
