The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received the Head of the EU Office in Kosovo Tomas Szunyog, the Ambassador of France to Kosovo Mr. Olivier Guérot, the Ambassador of Italy Antonello De Riu and the Deputy Ambassador of German, Mathias Conrad, with whom she discussed the current developments in the field of politics and security.
At the meeting, the preparations being made for the holding of elections in the four municipalities in the north of the country in accordance with the legislation in force were discussed. Madam President reiterated that the right to request the removal of the presidents through signatures is a right that belongs to the citizens and that she now expects that all the necessary procedures will be carried out by the CEC in accordance with the law and the administrative instruction in force.
At the meeting with the ambassadors, President Osmani emphasized the immediate need to lift the EU measures against Kosovo, which are unfair and create a lack of balance in the dialogue, and at the same time pointed out that Kosovo has taken concrete steps in accordance with the agreed plan for this matter. The lifting of the measures, she added, would create a much more positive atmosphere for the continuation of the principled dialogue where both sides would be treated equally.
She also reiterated that unfortunately Serbia is not facing responsibility for the instigation of the attack on KFOR soldiers in May, nor for the aggression attack against Kosovo in September last year.
This situation, according to her, can encourage Serbia to increase its destabilizing actions in the region.
A part of the meeting was also devoted to the issue of the implementation of the CBK Regulation, with Madam President reiterating that it is important that this regulation is not being requested to be repealed, but simply to work on a transition plan for its implementation which also considers the concerns of all citizens who may be affected by such a decision. Potentiating the importance of implementing the Constitution in every corner of Kosovo, the President added that success in this direction is also related to the level of cooperation with our allies who have always been the strongest supporters of the independence, sovereignty and security of our state.
