President Osmani commemorated the anniversary of the Massacre in the Tusuz neighborhood of Prizren
25 years ago, the forces of the Serbian genocidal regime, on the eve of freedom, ruthlessly killed 27 residents of the Tusuz neighborhood (The neighborhood of the Brave) in Prizren. This neighborhood stands out for its contribution and sacrifice to the freedom of Kosovo and hence serving justice to the victims is our daily engagement. May the memory be eternal for the martyrs and all those who fell for freedom!
President Osmani received the KFOR Commander
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received the KFOR Commander, Major General Özkan Ulutaş. The latest developments in the field of security were discussed at the meeting, with the Commander presenting the KFOR assessments of the security situation in the country and informing President Osmani of the actions being undertaken in this direction. President Osmani thanked the KFOR Commander on his personal engagements and all KFOR soldiers for maintaining peace and security in the country
President Osmani received the Italian ambassador Antonello De Riu
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Kosovo, Antonello De Riu. The latest developments in the country, with special emphasis on security developments, given the ongoing threats and Serbia’s tendencies to destabilize the region were discussed at the meeting. The contribution of the Italian troops within KFOR in maintaining peace and security in the country was also discussed, with President Osmani highly appreciating their engagements and the continuous support of Italy in this direction. President Osmani reiterated her commitment to close cooperation with Italy and reaffirmed her willingness to intensify bilateral relations.

On President’s Day, President Vjosa Osmani honored the architect of the independent state of Kosovo, the initiator of democratic life and pluralistic political engagement, the Historic President, Dr. Ibrahim Rugova.
President Osmani met the Board of the Association of Municipalities of Kosovo
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received during the week the Board of the Association of Municipalities of Kosovo, chaired by its President Agim Aliu. The main topic of the meeting was the need for urgent handling by all institutions of cases of gender-based violence,particularly considering the recent cases of murders of women that occurred in several municipalities. In this context, President Osmani emphasized the importance of the engagement of the municipalities towards raising of the security measures through the Centers for Social Work, as well as sustainable support through financial support from the municipalities to the victims of gender-based violence. A number of necessary measures were also discussed, to which both presidents showed their full readiness for cooperation. Furthermore, Madam President emphasized that the issue of gender-based violence has been addressed and continues to be addressed in the Council for Democracy and Human Rights, which has forwarded concrete recommendations to the relevant institutions for urgent action. The needs of municipalities, projects aimed at sustainable economic growth, as well as the necessity of cooperation between the central and local levels for projects of civic interest were also discussed at the meeting. President Osmani and the mayors of the municipalities, among other things, talked about the importance of lifting of EU measures, noting that the citizens are the ones who are most affected by these measures. President Osmani announced her continuous engagements to lift these measures as soon as possible to the benefit of the citizens of Kosovo. At the meeting with the AKK Board, the necessary investments in the health and education sectors, as two priority areas, as well as joint projects for the support of children with special needs were subjects discussed. The following points were also discussed at the meeting :promotion of tourism in the municipalities of Kosovo, cooperation between the Office of the President and the municipalities in the implementation of projects in this field, with the support from Albania.
President Osmani received a parliamentary delegation from Saudi Arabia
The President of the Republic of Kosovo met today with a parliamentary delegation from Saudi Arabia, who also serve at the Saudi Arabia-Kosovo friendship group. During the meeting, Madam President thanked the delegation for the continuous support of Saudi Arabia, especially in the process of membership in international organizations as well as the support in various fields provided to the people of Kosovo. The parliamentary delegation offered the full support by Saudi Arabia, and also discussed the increase of economic cooperation, augmentation of efforts to empower Kosovo in the international arena as well as humanitarian support for various projects for the neediest categories.
President Osmani received the US ambassador, Jeffrey Hovenier
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received today in a regular meeting the US ambassador Jeffrey Hovenier, with whom she discussed the coordination of the international agenda, security issues, in relation to the constant threats and the instability created by Serbia, issues related to the rights of non-majority communities, joint efforts to combat gender-based violence, as well as a number of other issues of common interest.
President Osmani commemorates the 25th anniversary of the Massacre in the city of Vushtrri
On May 22nd 1999, the Serbian genocidal regime endeavoured to exterminate the Albanian residents on “Abdullah Shabani” street, in Vushtrri. After forcibly evicting the residents from their homes, 68 of them, including children and the elderly, were held hostage in the house of Kahriman Pasoma and after cruelly torturing them, they were all killed. Other residents, the Serbian criminal regime gathered in the sports hall and in the prison of Smrekonica, where following torture and looting, they were forcibly deported to Albania. They tried to hide the traces of the crime, as the bodies of most of the murdered were found in the mass cemetery in Batajnica, Serbia. Justice for the victims of the Vushtrri massacre, as well as for all the victims of other massacres throughout Kosovo, is a necessity and a constant commitment of ours. May the memory of the martyrs of Vushtrri and all those who fell for freedom be eternal!
