On May 22nd 1999, the Serbian genocidal regime endeavoured to exterminate the Albanian residents on “Abdullah Shabani” street, in Vushtrri.
After forcibly evicting the residents from their homes, 68 of them, including children and the elderly, were held hostage in the house of Kahriman Pasoma and after cruelly torturing them, they were all killed.
Other residents, the Serbian criminal regime gathered in the sports hall and in the prison of Smrekonica, where following torture and looting, they were forcibly deported to Albania.
They tried to hide the traces of the crime, as the bodies of most of the murdered were found in the mass cemetery in Batajnica, Serbia.
Justice for the victims of the Vushtrri massacre, as well as for all the victims of other massacres throughout Kosovo, is a necessity and a constant commitment of ours.
May the memory of the martyrs of Vushtrri and all those who fell for freedom be eternal!
