President Osmani met yesterday with the French ambassador Olivier Guérot
The President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received yesterday the ambassador of France Olivier Guérot. The latest developments in the country, as well as the process of Kosovo’s membership in international organizations were discussed at the meeting. President Osmani thanked France for the support given to Kosovo in the Council of Europe. The readiness for cooperation and continuous coordination between the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo and France was confirmed regarding the dialogue process during the meeting. Likewise, special emphasis was been placed on the importance of the expansion of interstate cooperation in the fight against organized crime groups.

Thank you very much Fatmir, Thank you to everyone present here today, It has been a while since we started with activities dedicated to Earth, but as I said when I met with the students a few days ago, with our pupils, Earth Day should be every day for us. Dear Minister Aliu, Dear Maria, Ms. Suokko, UNDP head Ambassador of Luxembourg, Honourable Media, All you present today, And particularly dear students, Days ago, as I mentioned, we celebrated Earth Day in the company of some exceptional pupils. Their handling and elaboration of environmental topics really gave me a lot of hope for the future. If years ago, environmental issues were seen as secondary topics, now we are noticing from year to year that they are becoming more and more present in the public discourse. In this direction, as much as the fact that global environmental developments and phenomena are becoming more and more challenging naturally influences, the mobilization and all-round commitment to raise awareness of these issues also contribute. The fact that we are all gathered together today and are marking Earth Days in Kosovo is direct proof. Certain research which has been carried out in the direction of identifying the biggest environmental challenges in the global plane shows that the biggest problems are related to climate change, air pollution, waste treatment which is still being done today, deforestation and water pollution. All these in one way or another affect our country. Just as climate change knows no borders, so do the effects of almost every other environmental problem. One thing must be clear: in dealing with these issues, the individual approach is not enough. We need regular cooperation and coordination both at the national and regional level, but also at the global level, in order to succeed. In a world dominated by overconsumption, overproduction, constant migration and overpopulation; efficiency, waste management and treatment, as well as the circular economy are gradually turning into headlines. They are our guarantee to successfully face the environmental challenges of our days. • Do we have the will to work in this direction? I can confirm that YES, we do. • Do we have the knowledge to work in this direction? I have no doubt that we do. • Do we have enough resources? I think we need support, cooperation and coordination. • Do we have an alternative to not dealing with environmental protection? Absolutely not. There is no other alternative. Always remember that protecting the earth and the environment means protecting health, protecting life and protecting well-being on Earth. Thank you!

President Osmani received the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Mr. Kunio Mikuriya
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Mr. Kunio Mikuriya. At the meeting with Mr. Mikuriya, President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo is committed to working closely with the World Customs Organization in partnership for the benefit of both parties, increasing customs performance through the fight against smuggling and trade facilitation. In this context, President Osmani said that Kosovo is ready to cooperate further with the WCO in achieving the highest international standards in its customs operations, including raising the capacities of its customs officials and using of technology. Kosovo, according to President Osmani, has managed to increase the collection of tax and customs revenues and that law enforcement agencies, including the Kosovo Customs, have successfully carried out major anti-smuggling operations throughout the state. At the meeting with the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization, President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo remains committed to becoming a regional champion in the rule of law and mentioned that the reforms stemming from the relevant EU directives are being implemented.

President Osmani is awarded the Key of the City, an award presented for the first time by the municipality of Tetova
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, on the second day of her official visit to North Macedonia, visited the municipality of Tetova where she was received by the mayor of this municipality Bilall Kasami, who honoured President Osmani with the Key of the City. This award was presented for the first ever time by the municipality of Tetova. “I am honored to start my visit to Tetovo with the Key of the City presented by the Mayor Mr. Bilall Kasami, a symbol of our daily engagements to staying close to our compatriots,” said President Osmani. President Osmani appreciated the historic role played by Tetova for Albanians everywhere and thanked the Tetovars who, during the war in Kosovo in 1998-1999, opened their hearts and doors to shelter the Kosovar refugees forcibly expelled by the genocidal regime of Serbia. The possibilities of cooperation with Kosovar municipalities were discussed at the meeting, in order to improve the lives of citizens from both countries. “Tetova and its citizens are always in the hearts of the citizens of Kosovo, that’s why today, together with Mayor Kasami, we reconfirmed our commitment to the further nurturing of our special relations,” said President Osmani.
President Osmani donated a contingent of books to the Albanian Library of Bitola
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani during her official visit to North Macedonia, at a ceremony organized at the Embassy of Kosovo in Skopje, donated a contingent of books to the Albanian Library of Bitola, which is currently under construction. President Osmani congratulated the initiator Emira Selimi for her extraordinary work and dedication to the opening of the first Albanian language library in the city of Bitola. Furthermore, the President emphasized that this student initiative could not happen in any city more adequately than that of Bitola, where our unified alphabet and our unified language originate from.” “It is also encouraging that this initiative has been taken by a girl, and I strongly believe that like many other inspiring initiatives by women and girls, its impact will be enormous. The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani Sadriu, awarded post mortem today the “Hasan Prishtina” Order to the ideologue, politician, philosopher and leader Arbën Xhaferi, at a ceremony organized at the Embassy of Kosovo in Skopje, with the attendance of several members of his family. “Arbën Xhaferi will always be remembered and appreciated for his high intellectual consciousness, far-sighted political articulation, protection and promotion of the human and national rights of Albanians in Kosovo and particularly in North Macedonia, as well as for the affirmation of the pro-Western orientation of the Albanian nation in the spirit of our renaissance,” said President Osmani. On behalf of Arbën Xhaferi’s family, his son Ilir thanked President Osmani for the institutional respect shown to the philosopher, intellectual and leader Arbën Xhaferi.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani Sadriu, together with the mayor of the Municipality of Çair Visar Ganiu and the daughter of President Rugova Teuta Rugova, inaugurated the “Ibrahim Rugova” Street in the municipality of Çair. “Today, the Municipality of Çair immortalized the name of the Historic President Dr. Ibrahim Rugova. This street, which we inaugurated today, together with the Mayor of the Municipality, Visar Ganiu, the daughter of President Rugova and many other friends of our state, will without any doubt serve as a guide to his work and a reminder of the historical legacy of President Rugova,” wrote President Osmani.
The President: Meja is an eternal wound of ours
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani Sadriu commemorated the Meja massacre. “In Meja, there are still open graves, there are mothers who come there and cry next to an empty grave because the Serbian regime still keeps secret the information related to the location of those killed in Meja and all of Kosovo,” said President Osmani. President Osmani’s full statement: Today we remember one of the most terrible massacres carried out by the Serbian regime against the Albanian people of Kosovo, that of Meja, in which 376 men between the ages of 15 and 75, 36 of whom were under 18, were executed by the Serbian police and army. Meja is an eternal wound of ours, but also a stone that must weigh immensely on the conscience of the Serbian regime of yesterday, which systematically divided and killed our sons, hid them or evanesced their corpses forever, as well as of the present regime, who continues to live upon the crimes committed by their state, without conscience and without an apology to the victims. Therefore, we say it out loud, today and forever: those killed in Meja are victims of the Serbian genocide committed in Kosovo. This genocide must be known by its real name. Meja is the undeniable evidence of a terrible intention of a state for the collective murder of a nation, but also our unceasing cry to resoundingly articulate our call for justice.
