The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Mr. Kunio Mikuriya.
At the meeting with Mr. Mikuriya, President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo is committed to working closely with the World Customs Organization in partnership for the benefit of both parties, increasing customs performance through the fight against smuggling and trade facilitation.
In this context, President Osmani said that Kosovo is ready to cooperate further with the WCO in achieving the highest international standards in its customs operations, including raising the capacities of its customs officials and using of technology.
Kosovo, according to President Osmani, has managed to increase the collection of tax and customs revenues and that law enforcement agencies, including the Kosovo Customs, have successfully carried out major anti-smuggling operations throughout the state.
At the meeting with the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization, President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo remains committed to becoming a regional champion in the rule of law and mentioned that the reforms stemming from the relevant EU directives are being implemented.
