Jeton Bytyqi, Constitutional Court Judge, swears the oath in front of President Osmani
The swearing-in ceremony of Judge Jeton Bytyqi was held in front of the President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani today, with the President of the Constitutional Court Gresa Cakaj also in attendance. President Osmani congratulated Mr. Bytyqi for his new role as a Constitutional Court Judge and pointed out the importance of the integrity and impartiality of the judges of this institution. Judge Bytyqi swore that he will remain faithful to the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and that he will respect the rules of professional ethics.
President Osmani commemorated the year 1981 demonstrations : The courage of the students shaped the cause for the Republic of Kosovo, accomplished on February 17th, 2008
43 years ago, the courage of the students manifested with demonstrations made our cause for the Republic of Kosovo take shape and continue until its accomplishment on February 17th, 2008. The “Bread Revolt” at the University of Pristina canteen, was actually a revolt against an oppressive regime, which marked the beginning of the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia. These demonstrations changed the course of history with the clear cause of defense of dignity, national identity and the right to a state. The spring of 81 is a turning point in the history of Kosovo, a courageous effort against oppression and a powerful affirmation of the rights of the people of Kosovo to freedom and the Republic. The legacy of the 1981 demonstrations is a reminder of the transformative power of students to effectuate radical change. The courage, endurance and resistance of the students of that generation shouldered the fight for freedom and sovereignty, ultimately leading to the realization of the dream for the Republic of Kosovo, which we must preserve and strengthen every day.
President Osmani received a delegation from the Coordination Office of the Bosnian National Councils
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani Sadriu received today a delegation from the Coordination Office of the Bosnian National Councils, who are visiting Kosovo at the invitation of the Bosnian representatives of the Consultative Council for Communities, in the Office of the President of the Republic of Kosovo. Madam President called for even closer cooperation, primarily of an institutional nature, between Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and then between the Albanian and Bosnian people in joint projects and exchanges in the field of education and culture. Madam President also emphasized that it is necessary to implement all the principles signed in the Berlin Process agreements, starting with the freedom of movement.

The Office of the President of the Republic of Kosovo signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with GIZ Kosova in order to strengthen the role of civil society in Kosovo towards a speedier advancement of the Agenda for Women, Peace and Security. The role of civil society in accelerating the full implementation of the Agenda for Women, Peace and Security is essential, especially at the local level. As part of the next edition of the International Forum for Women, Peace and Security, which will be held this April in Pristina, the signatory parties will offer support opportunities to local NGOs by providing space for the presentation of idea projects related to developing gender and climate responsive policies, and encouraging women’s leadership in climate action. This cooperation serves as a confirmation of Kosovo and Germany to work together aiming the creation of a safe, peaceful and stable environment for women and girls.
President Osmani received the credentials of the non-resident ambassador of Lithuania, Eduardas Borisovas
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the credentials of the non-resident ambassador of Lithuania Eduardas Borisovas. According to President Osmani, Kosovo and Lithuania have amicable relations, forged by historical challenges and common aspirations for democracy and freedom. In this context, President Osmani mentioned the last official visit to Lithuania, which was a proof of the growing cooperation between the two states. A the meeting with Ambassador Borisovas, President Osmani expressed gratitude for Lithuania’s continuous engagement in Kosovo through its participation in KFOR since the post-war period. Furthermore, President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo is very interested in strengthening bilateral relations with Lithuania, but also in benefiting from the experience of this country from the successful political and economic transition, especially in areas such as EU integration, rule of law, defense, security, innovation, information technology, education and other areas. President Osmani informed Ambassador Borisovas with the current political and security situation in the country and emphasized that Serbia, using Russia’s model, is trying to destabilize not only Kosovo, but also the region. President Osmani said that the EU should lift the measures against Kosovo. Given that Kosovo remains steadfast in its commitment to Euro-Atlantic integration and the consolidation of its international position, President Osmani stated the need for Lithuania’s support in our aspirations for membership in the Council of Europe, the EU, NATO and other international organizations. A part of the meeting was also dedicated to the International Forum for Women, Peace and Security, the second edition of which will be held on April 15-16, and which demonstrates Kosovo’s commitment to promotion of gender equality and peace building efforts. President Osmani and Ambassador Borisovas also discussed the expansion of cooperation in various sectors including education, culture, healthcare and other spheres of mutual interest.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the credentials of the non-resident ambassador of Malaysia, Zahid Rastam. At the meeting with Ambassador Rastam President Osmani expressed her belief that during his tenure, the ties between Kosovo and Malaysia will strengthen even further. President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo needs Malaysia’s support for Kosovo’s membership in international organizations and recognition by the states of the ASEAN organization. Exploring new opportunities for cooperation with Malaysia, especially in key sectors such as economy, trade, education and agriculture, which offer tremendous potential for mutual benefit were also discussed at the meeting. The organization of a joint economic forum, a good opportunity for exchange between the businesses of the two countries was also a subject talked about at the meeting. President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting peace and stability, both internally and in the region.
President Osmani: The KLA Epopee symbolizes the freedom we enjoy today
Prekaz, March 6, 2024: The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, together with the Speaker of the Assembly Glauk Konjufca and the Prime Minister Albin Kurti paid tribute at the “Adem Jashari” Memorial Complex, in Prekaz, on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the KLA Epopee. Following the tributes, President Osmani, Speaker Konjufca and Prime Minister Kurti visited the tower (Kulla) of the Jashari family and were received by Uncle Rifat Jashari. “Today, we are here together with the Speaker of the Assembly and the Prime Minister of the country to once again, on behalf of the people of Kosovo, express our deep gratitude and our eternal remembrance for Commander-in-Chief Adem Jashari and the entire Jashari family, who personify the greatest human sacrifice that our history has known”, emphasized President Osmani. According to President Osmani, the Epic of the KLA is the Epic of the pride of our people. “The KLA epopee is the epopee of our nation’s pride, it is the epopee that has restored the dignity of our state, and above all it is the epopee that symbolizes the freedom we enjoy today,” said President Osmani. Madam president also said that the Jashari family will remain forever as guide to the current generations, but also to generations that will come after us. “As you can see, not only now during the Epopee, but at different times of the year as well we have children from schools all over Kosovo who come here, not only to learn about the history of Kosovo, but above all to be inspired by the example of the Jashari family who, with their bravery and courage were ready to give everything so that Kosovo can breathe free today. Eternal glory to Commander Adem Jashari and all members of the Jashari family, as well as to the fallen and all other KLA martyrs!,” said President Osmani.
President Osmani received the letters of credence of the Ambassador of the United Kingdom, Jonathan Hargreaves
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the credentials of the new Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Kosovo, Jonathan Hargreaves. After welcoming the new British ambassador, President Osmani emphasized that the relations between the two countries are excellent and expressed her belief that the positive developments in bilateral relations between Kosovo and the United Kingdom will also continue during Ambassador Hargreaves tenure. The latest political and security developments in the country, as well as the dialogue process with Serbia were also discussed at the meeting. President Osmani emphasized that United Kingdom is a powerful ally, which has supported Kosovo throughout and in the face of all challenges. “I express our deep gratitude for the continued support by the United Kingdom, in strengthening Kosovo’s international position. Recently, we were honoured by Prime Minister Cameron’s visit to Kosovo, who supported us and stipulated that the forces of the United Kingdom are here to protect Kosovo and its sovereignty,” stated President Osmani. Both interlocutors discussed the further possibilities of cooperation in the empowerment of women and their economic independence, with President Osmani informing Ambassador Hargreaves on the second edition of the Women, Peace and Security Forum, which is expected to be held on April 15-16. President Osmani also thanked the United Kingdom for the support so far and expressed the need for expansion of cooperation in various fields, including defense, trade, investments, education and other areas of mutual interest.
