The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received a delegation of the Labor Friends of Kosovo group from the United Kingdom, whom she congratulated on the victory of their party in the last elections. According to President Osmani, the establishment of this group is an important moment in the relations between the two states and that it will play an important role in the sustainable partnership between the two states. President Osmani thanked the United Kingdom for its steadfast commitment to supporting Kosovo, as well as its continued engagement to peace and stability in the region. “Freedom came with Labor”, quoted President Osmani the words of former Prime Minister Tony Blair in 1999, and in this context emphasized the necessity of continuing the support to Kosovo by the United Kingdom. According to President Osmani, a safe and stable Kosovo contributes directly to a safer Europe. Hence, she potentiated that in bilateral cooperation, cooperation in the field of defense and security should be under a special focus. The expansion of cooperation in other fields of mutual interest and to the benefit of citizens in both countries was also discussed at the meeting.

President Osmani received the US Ambassador Jeffrey Hovenier

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received in a regular meeting the Ambassador of the United States of America, Jeffrey Hovenier. The latest developments, the current security situation in the country, the further strengthening of bilateral cooperation, and the changes in the American administration following the elections were discussed at the meeting. President Osmani expressed gratitude for the historic bipartisan support and cooperation with the United States and underlined the joint engagements to maintain peace and stability. In relation to the changes in the US administration, as a result of the last elections, President Osmani reconveyed Kosovo’s congratulations to President Trump and his cabinet, as she emphasized that Kosovo’s alliance with the USA is existential and expressed the hope that the excellent cooperation will continue with the new administration as well and that Kosovo will perdure in the American focus.

President Osmani received the chairman of the Central Election Commission Kreshnik Radoniqi

To guarantee the constitutional functioning of the institutions, the President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani met today with the chairman of the Central Election Commission Kreshnik Radoniqi, to discuss preparations for the electoral process for the regular parliamentary elections to be held on February 9th 2025. President Osmani emphasized at the meeting the importance of the electoral process being fair, transparent, with integrity, and based on the Constitution and the law. Mr. Radoniqi informed Madam President of the preparations that the CEC is undertaking regarding the administration of the elections so that all citizens can exercise the right to vote in a legal and transparent election process.

President Osmani received General Wesley K. Clark

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received General Wesley K. Clark, former NATO Supreme Commander Europe, who led the NATO intervention in 1999, which played an important role to the freedom of Kosovo. “Your determination and leadership contributed to the freedom of Kosovo, ensuring a future where dignity prevails over fear and oppression” emphasized President Osmani. At the meeting with General Clark, President Osmani potentiated Kosovo’s progress over the years, noting the continuous engagements to strengthen Kosovo’s position on the international stage, as well as its membership in international organizations. According to President Osmani, the future of Kosovo is clear, aiming for Euro-Atlantic integration and a sturdy partnership with the United States.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani met last night at a working dinner with the KFOR Commander, Major General Enrico Barduani, with whom she discussed the security issues in the country. At the meeting, President Osmani underlined the continuous commitment to a safe and stable Kosovo, as a prerequisite for development and prosperity, reconfirming the importance of coordination between the institutions of Kosovo and international partners on security issues, aiming the protection of all our citizens and the protection of the country’s sovereignty. In this line, President Osmani continues to undertake regular meetings with the KFOR commander, with the aim of expansion of cooperation with security partners, especially with NATO. President Osmani expressed her gratitude to KFOR, which has increased the number of troops supporting Kosovo’s institutions’ in patrolling of the border with Serbia. Madam President re-emphasized the dangers that come from Serbia’s destabilizing tactics, especially due to Serbia’s lack of responsibility, both for the act of aggression in September 2023 and for the attacks on KFOR in May 2023. President Osmani and Commander Barduani affirmed during the meeting their joint engagement to maintaining a safe environment for all citizens, acknowledging that cooperation and mutual trust are the basis for lasting peace and stability.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received today a delegation of the Regional Assembly of Europe, part of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie, led by the Belgian senator Anne Lambelin. At the meeting, President Osmani reaffirmed Kosovo’s dedication to francophone values and emphasized that Kosovo is currently an associate member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie, hence the full rights membership within the International Organization of the Francophonie is not only a key priority, but also an essential step in strengthening of democracy and human rights, as common values of francophone countries President Osmani informed the delegation on the advancement of the agenda for Women, Peace and Security, stressing that Kosovo has already become a positive example at the global level. In this spirit, President Osmani emphasized that through raising of the status of Kosovo in the ONF, the cooperation with other member states in sustainable development, the promotion of cultural and linguistic diversity, education and scientific research, as well as in the fields others of mutual interest will only intensify.

President Osmani at the meeting with the heads of the Institute for Crimes Committed during the War: The investigation of war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, torture and other crimes of importance in documenting the truth and for justice

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani met today with the executive director of the Institute for War Crimes, Atdhe Hetemi. According to President Osmani, the investigation of crimes committed during wartime, such as war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, torture and other crimes, is extremely important to be documented, archived and to ensure that the truth is protected in order to bring justice, as well as to be preserved in service to future generations. “The work of the Institute is an engagement of historic importance for us as a nation and as a state”, emphasized President Osmani and underlined the necessity of close cooperation between ICCK and local and international institutions. At meeting, the ICCK executive director presented to President Osmani the Institute’s Annual Report, with Madam President reiterating the Presidency’s steadfast support to the War Crimes Institute.
