President Osmani received the representatives of civil society organizations to discuss the establishment of the Presidential Commission on Transitional Justice

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received today representatives of several non-governmental organizations in Kosovo, to discuss the preparations for the establishment of the Presidential Commission on Transitional Justice. The establishment of this Commission stems from the Transitional Justice Strategy of the Republic of Kosovo, while the process of its functionalization will continue during the forthcoming weeks, in cooperation with representative organizations of war victims in Kosovo, civil society and international partners. President Osmani expressed gratitude for the support and engagement of non-governmental organizations in processes related to transitional justice and thanked those present for their willingness to contribute to this process.
President Osmani receives congratulatory letter from President of the Republic of Senegal Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, on the 17th anniversary of Independence

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has received a congratulatory letter from the President of the Republic of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of Kosovo’s Independence. In his message, President Faye conveyed his warmest congratulations to President Osmani and the friendly people of Kosovo, expressing his wishes for good health, happiness and prosperity. At the same time, the President of Senegal reconfirmed his readiness to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda congratulates President Osmani on the 17th anniversary of Kosovo’s Independence

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, has received a congratulatory message from the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda, on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of Kosovo’s Independence. In his message, President Nausėda praised the excellent relations between Kosovo and Lithuania which are based on mutual respect, and expressed his belief that there is still untapped potential for strengthening economic cooperation and further developing political and cultural ties between the two countries. The Lithuanian President also potentiated Kosovo’s principled stance in support of Ukraine and expressed his belief that both countries will continue to be united in facing global challenges. Reaffirming Lithuania’s strong support for Kosovo’s European journey, President Nausėda expressed his country’s commitment to helping advance European reforms and supporting Kosovo’s aspirations for membership in the European Union. At the end of the message, President Nausėda expressed the will to continue the close cooperation between the two countries.
President Osmani received the Italian Ambassador to Kosovo Mr. Antonello De Riu

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received today the Italian Ambassador to Kosovo, Mr. Antonello De Riu. The latest developments in the country, security issues, the progress of the electoral process, as well as the constitution of institutions after the final certification of the results of the parliamentary elections of February 9th were discussed at the meeting. Issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed also discussed, with a focus on concrete opportunities for the expansion of this cooperation.

President Osmani received the Swedish Ambassador – agreement signed to provide professional expertise in support of the Presidency

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received the Ambassador of Sweden to Kosovo, Jonas Westerlund, with whom she discussed the latest developments in the country as well as the cooperation in overcoming joint challenges on the European continent. President Osmani, Ambassador Westerlund and the executive director of the Balkan Policy Research Group Naim Rashiti, during the meeting signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, which will provide the Office of the President with support from the Swedish state, through professional expertise within the scope of the institution of the Presidency. During the signing ceremony, President Osmani thanked Ambassador Westerlund for Sweden’s continued support to Kosovo, emphasizing the importance of partnership in strengthening democratic institutions and advancing our country’s European agenda. This Memorandum of Cooperation marks another concrete step towards strengthening institutional capacities and creating policies based on international expertise and best practices.
President Osmani participated at the marking of the third anniversary of the beginning of the Russian aggression on Ukraine

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, participated at the event organized by the ambassadors of the QUINT countries to mark the third anniversary of the commencement of the Russian aggression on Ukraine. It is with deep sorrow that we learned of the passing of Frank G. Wisner, a distinguished diplomat and valued friend of Kosovo. His long and distinguished career in the service of the US diplomacy, including his role as an envoy to the Kosovo status talks, has left an indelible mark on our history. Mr. Wisner was a man dedicated to peace and stability, acting with wisdom and integrity during crucial moments of international diplomacy. His contributions to global affairs, as well as his commitment to Kosovo, will be remembered with eternal gratitude and respect. President Osmani had the honor of working closely with Ambassador Wisner for many years and last spoke to him over the phone a few months ago to wish him success in the health battles he was facing. His memory and work will always remain part of our history. May the memory of the diplomat and friend of Kosovo Frank G. Wisner, be eternal!

President Osmani condoles the family on Faik Rexhepi’s passing away

It is with deep sorrow that we received the news of the passing of Faik Rexhepi, the indestructible symbol of peaceful resistance against the Serbian regime. Faik Rexhepi remains a name engraved in our history, a man who, in the face of violence and injustice, chose to stand unwavering, cross-legged in the middle of the road, as a powerful act of non-surrender. His sculpture at “Zahir Pajaziti” Square is an eternal testament to his courage and to the ideal of freedom. The memory of him and the message from the sculpture will live forever. I express my sincere condolences to the family, friends and relatives! In these difficult moments for the family, I sympathize with you and encourage you to find strength in coping with the pain. May the memory of Faik Rexhepi be eternal!
