The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the letters of credence of the new ambassador of the Republic of Finland to Kosovo Matti Nissinen, to whom she bid a warm welcome.
President Osmani thanked Finland for the support so far, asking that this support continues further, with special emphasis on the liberalization of visas for the citizens of Kosovo. In this spirit, President Osmani asked for Finland's support for Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe, as well as other international organizations, which will help strengthen democracy, the rule of law and human rights.
President Osmani praised the good bilateral relations between Kosovo and Finland during the last years, including the contribution of the former president Martti Ahtisaari and emphasized that these relations will continue to strengthen during the mandate of Ambassador Nissinen.
President Osmani and Ambassador Nissinen also discussed the security situation in Europe, mentioning the importance of Euro-Atlantic integration as the only guarantee for lasting peace, security and stability in the region and beyond. In this regard, President Osmani congratulated the Finnish government on the decision to join the North Atlantic Alliance.
