On September 7th, 1990, the delegates of the Assembly of Kosovo gave life to the Kaçanik Constitution, the highest act of political courage and faith in our freedom and independence. This Constitution was the spark that kept hope and resistance alive, as well as the foundation upon which the Republic of Kosovo was built. This sublime act was more than a legal document; it was an oath that Kosovo would be free and independent among other free nations. Honorable Prime Minister Kurti, Speaker Basha, Minister Sveçla, Director Hoxha, Leaders of local and international institutions, Honorable officers and officials of the Kosovo Police, Honorable participants, Friends and guests, The police serve order even when they themselves face danger. This well-known phrase best summarizes the noble mission, sacrifice and loyalty to the homeland of each of you. Today, on the 26th anniversary of the establishment of the Kosovo Police, we celebrate the history of the Police, a history of courage, dedication and facing the challenges that our state has gone through and continues to go through every day. The Kosovo Police is among the strongest pillars of our sovereignty and territorial integrity. From inception to date, you have proven that there is no circumstance, no crisis and no threat that can shake your loyalty to the Republic. Especially in recent years, during sensitive periods, especially in the north of the country, you have shown unparalleled professionalism and courage, guaranteeing the order and security of our citizens, without distinction. This commitment is not only a legal duty, but above all an act of patriotism. Because every uniform of the Kosovo Police is a service, it is a symbol of order, law and our state dignity. Our police officers are ready, in addition to guaranteeing security within the country, to contribute to international security missions, thus placing Kosovo on the map of global partnerships. For this reason, it remains imperative for Kosovo to join INTERPOL and other international organizations, because that is where our Police has its place, among the professional police forces that protect peace, order and security everywhere in the world. Honorable guests, Today we bow with deep respect and gratitude to our police officers, who gave their lives in the line of duty. They remain eternal guardians of our Republic, reminding us that freedom and peace are never a gift, but are a daily sacrifice. The legacy of Afrim Bunjaku, Enver Zymberi and our other heroes is a responsibility for all of us, so that every inch of the Republic of Kosovo is protected at all costs. Dear members of the Kosovo Police, You are the best example of how love for country and honest service make Kosovo stronger and safer. A special thanks goes to all the policewomen, who make multiple sacrifices in honor of the uniform and in defense of our Republic and every citizen without distinction. On this 26th anniversary, we look back with pride and forward with determination. There will always be challenges, but you have proven that you are ready to face them with dignity and courage. The future of Kosovo is secure because it is a future that you protect every day with integrity and dedication. Let it always remain clear: The Republic of Kosovo stands strong, free and proud, because its Police is always on duty. Today, therefore, we are celebrating not only the birthday of the Police, but also the path of trust, pride and hope that it has built over these 26 years.
