The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, in the continuation of the meetings with world leaders on the fringes of the 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York, met the President of Costa Rica Carlos Alvarado Quesada, whom she thanked for being among the first countries to recognize Kosovo's independence. She asked for her counterpart Quesada's support in lobbying the neighbouring states of Costa Rica for the recognition of Kosovo's independence. Furthermore, President Osmani emphasized that she expects Costa Rica's support in Kosovo's effort in gaining membership in international organizations. In this context, President Osmani added that in the dialogue with Serbia, Kosovo is the constructive party and that its epilogue should be mutual recognition within the current borders and in compliance with Kosovo's legal order. At this meeting, President Osmani also touched on the possibilities of interstate cooperation with Costa Rica and stressed that both countries should promote trade and investment opportunities. The President of Costa Rica expressed his admiration for Kosovo's rapid progress and underlined his readiness to lobby everywhere for the further strengthening of Kosovo's state subjectivity.
