During her stay in New York, the President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani met with the Prime Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, whom she thanked for his country's contribution to Kosovo.
Relations between the two countries were appraised as good, while President Osmani asked the Prime Minister of Kuwait for his country's support in further strengthening of Kosovo's international subjectivity.
In this context, President Osmani sought the support of Prime Minister Al-Hamad Al-Sabah in Kosovo's efforts for membership in international organizations, as well as in exerting a positive influence with the member countries of the Islamic Organization which have not as yet recognized Kosovo's independence to do so, given that Kosovo's independence is an irreversible reality and serves the stability and peace in the region.
Furthermore, President Osmani expressed readiness for the expansion of relations with Kuwait. In this context she mentioned the presence of KSF soldiers in the peacekeeping mission in Kuwait, who are in this country as part of the joint engagement with American soldiers of the Iowa National Guard.
President Osmani and Prime Minister Al-Hamad Al-Sabah agreed to finalize the signing of several agreements, including one on “Status of the Members of the Kosovo Security Force during their Temporary Stationing in the State of Kuwait”. The President stressed that Kosovo intends to finalize an agreement on mutual protection and promotion of foreign investments.
Regarding the current situation in Kosovo President Osmani stressed that Kosovo aims to continue the dialogue with Serbia.
“The dialogue with Serbia must be concluded with mutual recognition,” said President Osmani.
Prime Minister Al-Hamad Al-Sabah congratulated Kosovo on its achievements and expressed his readiness for further cooperation between the two countries, as well as for the implementation of important projects that would serve the people of Kosovo.
Both sides agreed on further deepening of diplomatic relations and welcomed the idea of opening of Kosovo's embassy in Kuwait and of the Kuwaiti embassy in Kosovo.
