The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the Deputy Secretary General for Peace, Security and Defense at the European External Action Service (EEAS), Mr. Charles Fries, accompanied by the Head of the EU Office in Kosovo Tomas Szunyog and the head of EULEX mission, Lars-Gunnar Wigemark. Kosovo’s progress towards the European Union, with President Osmani reiterating the commitment of the Republic of Kosovo to Euro-Atlantic integrations was discussed at the meeting. Madam President informed Mr. Fries specifically with the progress made in the field of the rule of law, which also includes the fight against organized crime and corruption, as well as democratic reforms and the full alignment of foreign and security policy with that of the EU. Deputy Secretary Fries highly praised Kosovo’s coordination of public condemnation and sanctions against Russia as well as the continuous support to Ukraine. President Osmani and Deputy Secretary Fries also discussed the latest developments in the north of the Republic of Kosovo. Madam President reiterated her strong condemnation of the attacks of illegal Serbian structures turned into criminal gangs against the Kosovo police, KFOR and journalists. President Osmani emphasized that these criminal and as such, their dangerous actions must be condemned by all. President Osmani also emphasized the need for coordination with international partners, as a necessary step in order to ensure long-term peace and stability in the country and the region, and potentiated the importance of the rule of law and the need that these criminal gangs face justice for their illegal acts.

Kosovo is invited for the first time to the Conference of the Parties (COP28), President Osmani is invited to participate by the President of the United Arab Emirates
President Vjosa Osmani has received the official invitation by the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to the meeting of leaders within the framework of the COP28 Conference. The COP (Conference of the Parties) is a regular annual high-level conference organized by the United Nations focusing on climate change. It is the first time that Kosovo is invited to the meeting of COP leaders, since the establishment of this initiative. On this occasion, President Osmani received the non-resident Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates Mrs. Nabila Al Shamsi, who personally delivered the invitation for this conference. President Osmani emphasized that this is an extremely important moment for Kosovo, since it is the first time that the Republic of Kosovo is being officially invited and treated as an equal party. She emphasized that Kosovo is fully prepared to engage as actively as possible in issues related to the fight against climate change and that, as such, Kosovo should participate at every table where this extremely important and unsettling topic, not only for to country, is being discussed. The host of COP28 this year is the United Arab Emirates and the conference will be held at the end of November and beginning of December. COP28 has already become the main meeting of world leaders, in which problems and challenges in the field of climate change are discussed.

Today, President Osmani also visited the family of President Rugova. “The door is always open for friends in the family of President Rugova. On the President’s Day, every year the reception is followed by the President’s cake, cooked exclusively for this day by the golden hands of Mrs. Fanë, to remember the founding father of the Republic”, President Osmani wrote.
