President Vjosa Osmani has received the official invitation by the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to the meeting of leaders within the framework of the COP28 Conference. The COP (Conference of the Parties) is a regular annual high-level conference organized by the United Nations focusing on climate change. It is the first time that Kosovo is invited to the meeting of COP leaders, since the establishment of this initiative.
On this occasion, President Osmani received the non-resident Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates Mrs. Nabila Al Shamsi, who personally delivered the invitation for this conference. President Osmani emphasized that this is an extremely important moment for Kosovo, since it is the first time that the Republic of Kosovo is being officially invited and treated as an equal party. She emphasized that Kosovo is fully prepared to engage as actively as possible in issues related to the fight against climate change and that, as such, Kosovo should participate at every table where this extremely important and unsettling topic, not only for to country, is being discussed.
The host of COP28 this year is the United Arab Emirates and the conference will be held at the end of November and beginning of December.
COP28 has already become the main meeting of world leaders, in which problems and challenges in the field of climate change are discussed.
