The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, during her state visit to Albania visited the city of Berat, where Mayor Ervin Demo awarded her the title of “Patron of the Castle”, the highest awarded by this city. In a ceremony organised for this occasion, also attended by the members of the Municipal Council, President Osmani during the acceptance of the title emphasized that this honor that the city of Berat bestows on her also burdens her with the responsibility of promoting the Castle and the rich heritage of Berat in general. “The title “Patron of the Castle” carries a great responsibility. It signifies not only a personal honor, but an engagement for a greater cause such as the protection of our common cultural heritage. Castles like this one in Berat are not just physical buildings, but tradition and pride carried over the centuries,” stated President Osmani. According to President Osmani, the castle of Berat is a testament of the generations before us and a world heritage that is protected by UNESCO. “Both Albania and Kosovo have a rich cultural heritage worthy of UNESCO, an organization where we aspire to become a member, and Albania’s experience will be very useful to us on this path of ours”, said the President at the ceremony of accepting the title.

President Osmani was received by the Speaker of the Assembly of Albania Lindita Nikolla

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, during her visit to Albania, met with the Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Albania Lindita Nikolla and with the representatives of the political parties in the Assembly of Albania. According to President Osmani, parliamentary diplomacy has a vital role to play in promoting cooperation between Kosovo and Albania. In this context, President Osmani and Speaker of Parliament Nikolla also discussed the possibilities for increase of cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries as well as the exchange of experiences and capacities. According to President Osmani, there is a joint commitment to the advancement of the interests of Kosovo and Albania, thus increasing coordination in the field of foreign policy. In this context, President Osmani laid out the need for continued support by the Albanian delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe for a successful completion of Kosovo’s request for membership in this organization. President Osmani also emphasized that Euro-Atlantic integration is the common aim of both countries.
President Osmani was received by the Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama

During the state visit to Albania, the President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, was received today by the Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama. At the meeting, President Osmani and Prime Minister Rama discussed various issues of common interest, including increasing cooperation in foreign policy, economic partnership and regional stability. “A substantive conversation about the common European aspiration of Kosovo and Albania. By working together, Kosovo and Albania can pave the way to a brighter and more integrated future,” emphasized President Osmani. Both leaders expressed their commitment to the further strengthening of relations between Kosovo and Albania, as well as to working together towards the achievement of common objectives, related to the Euro-Atlantic journey. In this context, President Osmani emphasized that it is in the interest of both countries as well as of the region to have joint coordination in foreign policy, in order to integrate both countries into the Euro-Atlantic family. In relation to the dialogue process with Serbia, President Osmani stated that Kosovo is a constructive party and emphasized that mutual recognition, preservation of territorial integrity, sovereignty, constitutional order and institutional functionality of the Republic of Kosovo should be the result of this process. President Osmani and Prime Minister Rama expressed their optimism for the future of Kosovo-Albania relations and emphasized the potential for increased cooperation in various fields of mutual interest.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, has commenced her two-day state visit to Albania, where she was received with the highest state honours by President Bajram Begaj. At the meeting with President Begaj, President Osmani thanked Albania for supporting Kosovo in all stages of its engagements for freedom, independence and state building. President Osmani stated the need to augment the level of continuous and preliminary coordination in foreign policy, in relation to the interests of both countries, but also of the region and beyond. “Kosovo and Albania have a unique historical, cultural and national connection, this connection is strong and unbreakable. In the face of challenges, we must remain united, focusing on our main goal: the integration of our countries into the Euro-Atlantic family”, pointed out President Osmani. According to President Osmani, Kosovo is committed to the strengthening of its international position, pushing forward the goal of new recognitions and membership in international organizations. In this context, President Osmani expressed the need for Albania’s continuous support . “This challenge requires commitment and synchronized acts for new recognitions and membership in international organizations. As in the past, we expect Albania to be our voice in the countries and forums where we are not yet present,” said President Osmani. Madam President also mentioned membership bids for Council of Europe, NATO, EU, but also to other international organizations. “Kosovo’s membership in NATO as a long-term goal and inclusion as soon as possible in NATO’s Partnership for Peace Program are guarantees for peace and security in the region and in our continent. The fact that Albania is already a member of NATO creates greater security in our entire region and in particular in Kosovo,” stressed President Osmani. In relation to the political and security developments in the country, President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo, despite the open challenges in security and institutional plans presented by Serbia, continues to be committed to the dialogue process, as two independent and neighbouring states. According to President Osmani, its final result should be the mutual recognition and preservation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty, constitutional order as well as of the institutional functionality of the Republic of Kosovo.
President Osmani departed for a two-day state visit to Albania

At the invitation of the President of Albania Mr. Bajram Begaj, the President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani has departed for a two-day state visit to Albania, during which she will be received with high state honors by her counterpart President Begaj. In addition to the tête à tête meeting, the two presidents will also meet with delegations. After the meeting, the two presidents will hold a joint press conference, while in the evening President Begaj will host a state dinner in honour of President Osmani and the Kosovo delegation from Kosovo. Madam President will be accompanied by Mr. Prindon Sadriu, who during the day will continue with a joint agenda with the First Lady of Albania, Armanda Begaj. During this visit, President Osmani will also meet with the Prime Minister of Albania, Mr. Edi Rama. After the meeting, the President and her delegation will be welcomed at an official lunch laid by Prime Minister Rama. Madam President will also be received by the Speaker of the Assembly of Albania Mrs. Lindita Nikolla. A joint activity of the two presidents on the occasion of Mother Teresa’s Day at the Archives exhibition at the Presidency of Albania is also on President Osmani’s agenda. Also in Tirana, the President will have a meeting with the group of women deputies, a visit to the Leaf Museum and other activities. As part of this state visit, President Osmani will present the decree of Kosovo citizenship at a ceremony to the world-renowned writer Ismail Kadare. The agenda will continue in the city of Berat, where after the meeting with Mayor Ervin Demo, Madam President will be presented with the highest title of the city “Patron of the Castle”, followed by a visit to the Church of Saint Mary and the Onufri Museum. Meanwhile, in Durres, President Osmani will have a meeting with the mayor of Durres Emiriana Sako, will be visiting the Venetian Tower and the Kosovo Customs Office at the Port of Durres.
