The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, during her state visit to Albania visited the city of Berat, where Mayor Ervin Demo awarded her the title of “Patron of the Castle”, the highest awarded by this city.
In a ceremony organised for this occasion, also attended by the members of the Municipal Council, President Osmani during the acceptance of the title emphasized that this honor that the city of Berat bestows on her also burdens her with the responsibility of promoting the Castle and the rich heritage of Berat in general.
“The title “Patron of the Castle” carries a great responsibility. It signifies not only a personal honor, but an engagement for a greater cause such as the protection of our common cultural heritage. Castles like this one in Berat are not just physical buildings, but tradition and pride carried over the centuries,” stated President Osmani.
According to President Osmani, the castle of Berat is a testament of the generations before us and a world heritage that is protected by UNESCO.
“Both Albania and Kosovo have a rich cultural heritage worthy of UNESCO, an organization where we aspire to become a member, and Albania’s experience will be very useful to us on this path of ours”, said the President at the ceremony of accepting the title.
