President Osmani commemorated Colonel Tahir Zemaj, his son, Enis and cousin Hasan, on the twenty-first anniversary of their assassination

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani commemorated today Colonel Tahir Zemaj, his son Enis and cousin, Hasan, on the twenty-first anniversary of their assassination. Below is President Osmani’s full post: Twenty-one years ago, Colonel Tahir Zemaj was treacherously killed, together with with his son Enis and his cousin Hasan. Their murder was one of the most grievous post-war events in Kosovo. By depriving us of his outstanding activities towards the national cause, professional soldier and the man who stood up for his country in its most difficult hour, an attack was made not only upon him and his family, but also on the freedom of our country, on the ideals for which entire generations had sacrificed and for the future of Kosovo. The glorious battle of Loxha, which Colonel Zemaj led with unparalleled professionalism and selflessness, remains one of the most powerful battles against the Serbian army. On this anniversary, we once again call on the justice bodies to work intensively towards solving the murder of Colonel Zemaj and of all his brothers in arms.
President Osmani received Secretary Cameron: Kosovo’s membership in NATO is an imperative step to the peace and stability in the region

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received today the United Kingdom Foreign Secretary Lord David Cameron. The excellent relations between Kosovo and the United Kingdom, commitment to the expansion of interstate cooperation, strengthening of Kosovo’s international position, as well as the security situation in the region and beyond were discussed at the meeting. President Osmani thanked Secretary Cameron for the United Kingdom’s steadfast support through the years, including diplomatic support in the process of Kosovo’s integration into international institutions. President Osmani reiterated the importance of Kosovo’s membership in NATO, commencing with inclusion in the Partnership for Peace, as an imperative step in ensuring long-term peace and security in the region and beyond. President Osmani also emphasized the importance of membership in the Council of Europe for the further strengthening and advancement of human rights. The security situation in the region and beyond was also discussed, with President Osmani informing Secretary Cameron with the ongoing destabilizing efforts of Serbia, including the act of aggression and the terrorist act against the Republic of Kosovo on September 24th. Madam President thanked Secretary Cameron for the appendment of British troops to KFOR, emphasizing the importance of cooperation for the security of the border with Serbia. In this regard, the President also spoke about the terrorist groups, supported by Belgrade, which continue to create fear and intimidation within the Serbian community. Irrespective of this, President Osmani pointed out that Kosovo is an example in the region in relation to the rights of the non-majority communities, and reaffirmed Kosovo’s full commitment to empowering every citizen, without distinction.

At the end of the year President Osmani visits the Central Police Station

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, accompanied by the Minister of Internal Affairs Xhelal Sveçla and the Director of the Kosovo Police Gazmend Hoxha, visited the Central Police Station on the New Year’s Eve. President Osmani expressed deep appreciation for the professional commitment and extraordinary dedication of the Kosovo Police in protecting the sovereignty of the state during a challenging year for national security, at this New year period, away from their families. Madam President also commemorated the Hero of Kosovo Afrim Bunjaku, who died in defense of order, law, territorial integrity and sovereignty of our state and in defense of the dignity of our Republic. During the visit, Madam President was also informed on the dynamics and daily activities of the Central Police Station and the preparations for the new year’s celebrations. President Osmani encouraged them to continue with the same determination and integrity in serving the citizens. Wishing them a Happy New Year, President Osmani emphasized that the work of the Kosovo Police is essential for the well-being and safety of all citizens of the Republic.
On the New Year’s Eve President Osmani visits the University Clinical Center of Kosovo

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, accompanied by the Minister of Health Arben Vitia, visited the Emergency Clinic and the Cardiology Clinic at the University Clinical Centre of Kosovo. Madam President stated that the work carried out by the medical staff for the benefit of the health of the patients, at the turn of the year period, away from their families, shows their extraordinary dedication. During the visit, President Osmani was closely informed about their work throughout this year, as well as the challenges the health sector is facing. The President expressed her deep gratitude for the dedication of all the staff members of these clinics, emphasizing their role in preserving the health and lives of citizens. Furthermore, President Osmani underlined the necessity for continuation of investments in the healthcare sector, to ensure better working conditions for doctors and better-quality services for patients, in which case she confirmed her full support and commitment to continuing cooperation with may partners in this regard.
