The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani commemorated today Colonel Tahir Zemaj, his son Enis and cousin, Hasan, on the twenty-first anniversary of their assassination.
Below is President Osmani’s full post:
Twenty-one years ago, Colonel Tahir Zemaj was treacherously killed, together with with his son Enis and his cousin Hasan.
Their murder was one of the most grievous post-war events in Kosovo. By depriving us of his outstanding activities towards the national cause, professional soldier and the man who stood up for his country in its most difficult hour, an attack was made not only upon him and his family, but also on the freedom of our country, on the ideals for which entire generations had sacrificed and for the future of Kosovo.
The glorious battle of Loxha, which Colonel Zemaj led with unparalleled professionalism and selflessness, remains one of the most powerful battles against the Serbian army.
On this anniversary, we once again call on the justice bodies to work intensively towards solving the murder of Colonel Zemaj and of all his brothers in arms.
