President Osmani received the Ambassador of Turkey Sabri Tunç Angılı

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Kosovo Sabri Tunç Angılı, with whom she discussed the latest developments in the country, as well as the bilateral relations between Kosovo and Turkey. President Osmani said that Turkey remains a partner of Kosovo and a continuous supporter. In this context, Madam President emphasized Kosovo’s commitment to the Euro-Atlantic path, stressing the necessity of Kosovo’s membership in international organizations and its international recognition, in which case she requested Turkey’s continued support. At the meeting with Ambassador Angılı, President Osmani also pointed out Kosovo’s commitment to the expansion of bilateral relations and the intensification of economic cooperation, as well as in foreign policy with Turkey. President Osmani and Ambassador Angılı also discussed a number of issues in the field of bilateral cooperation, this year’s edition of the International Forum for Women, Peace and Security and other issues of mutual interest.

President Osmani: The events of February 3rd and 4th of the year 2000 in Mitrovica, a sad reminder of the struggle for survival and defense of freedom

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani commemorated the days of horror on February 3rd and 4th of the year 2000 in Mitrovica, when 10 civilians were killed by Serbian criminal gangs, 25 were injured and 1,564 families with 11,364 members were evicted from their homes.. President Osmani’s full post: In memory of the two nights of horror on February 3rd and 4th of the year 2000 in Mitrovica, we honour today the lost lives of 10 innocent citizens, among them old men,women and children, who were ruthlessly killed by criminal gangs, instigated by Serbia. Respect also to the 25 wounded, who survived and still live with physical and emotional wounds obtained on the night of horrors. 1,564 families with 11,364 members, forcibly displaced from their homes are evidence of the tendency for ethnic cleansing of this part of Mitrovica by criminal groups. The events of those two nights of horror serve as a sad reminder of the struggle for survival and to protect the freedom achieved with blood and sacrifice. Bringing the perpetrators of the crime to justice is a necessity for long-term peace! May the memory of those killed on February 3rd and 4th 2000 in Mitrovica remain eternal !

The latest developments in the country, including the developments in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, as well as the preparations being made regarding the request for new elections in the north of the country were discussed at the meeting. President Osmani and Ambassador Hovenier also discussed a number of issues in the field of bilateral cooperation, this year’s edition of the international forum for Women, Peace and Security as well as other issues of mutual interest.

President Osmani received the CEC chairman Kreshnik Radoniqi

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the chairman of the Central Electoral Commission Kreshnik Radoniqi. The preparations being made regarding the request for new elections in the north of the country, through the collection of 20% of the signatures of the voting body, as provided for in the Law on Local Self-Government and the Administrative Instruction drafted for this matter. Madam President expressed her belief that the CEC, as the institution responsible for the administration of voting, will take all appropriate actions and within the deadlines allowed for this process to be carried out, respecting the citizens’ right in accordance with the procedures and legislation in power.
The President: Zahir, Hakif and Edmond were initiators of freedom, inspiring the war of the Kosovo Liberation Army

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, paid tribute at the statue of Zahir Pajaziti, on the 27th anniversary of the fall of the heroes Zahir Pajaziti, Hakif Zejnullahu and Edmond Hoxha. President Osmani said that today we honor our heroes, the heroes of our freedom Zahir Pajazit, Hakif Zenjullahu and Edmond Hoxha on the 27th anniversary of their falling on the altar of freedom. “They were initiators of freedom, they inspired the war of the Kosovo Liberation Army and through their courage, their bravery and their sacrifice they inspired thousands of KLA boys and girls to fight for the freedom of Kosovo and built the strong foundations for the independent and sovereign state of the Republic that we enjoy today”, said President Osmani. President Osmani also added that Zahir, Hakif and Edmond showed that the price of freedom is very high. “Through their struggle against the Serbian occupiers, Zahir, Hakif and Edmond showed that the price of freedom is very high. But it is a price that the people of Kosovo paid through their sacrifice knowing that the freedom and independence and the state that we inherited through their bravery and courage is a state that will live forever, it is a state that will continue to progress and is a country whose only guide is the bravery and sacrifice of the heroes, who gave their most precious, gave their lives for our country so that the generations that are with us today and the generations that will come after us to live free from the occupation and to live free from the genocidal regime which at that time killed even the most innocent, even children in the cradle,” stated the President. Furthermore, President Osmani added that today we honor this sacrifice, without which none of us would be able to enjoy the greatest achievement of our nation, which is the state of Kosovo.
