President Osmani commemorated the 25th anniversary of the Massacre in Lagja e Re and Rakoc of Kaçanik
On 9 April 1999, in Lagja e Re and Rakoc of Kaçanik, 28 martyrs of the nation fell in defense of the civilian population from the barbarism of the genocidal regime of Serbia. The continuous siege and shelling of Kaçanik caused the deaths of 32 martyrs. Those who fell heroically and those who were martyred will be forever remembered, while justice will be our continuous aim to defend the truth. May the memory of all fallen for freedom be eternal!
President Osmani commemorates the massacre of Polac and Abri e Poshtme
Today, Polac and Kosovo recall April 1999, when the genocidal regime of Serbia killed in a one-week offensive 78 martyrs from this village and around it. Today, we remember them and bow with respect to the 8 KLA martyrs who fell on the altar of freedom. The machinery of the genocidal regime of Serbia, about two months before its capitulation, intensified efforts to exterminate the Albanian population and ethnically cleanse Kosovo. On April 7, the murderous machinery acted in the same way in Abri e Poshtme, where 10 civilians from Qabiq were killed. By commemorating the heroes and the KLA martyrs, we honour our past, keep the truth alive, and reaffirm our commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice. May the memory of all those who fell for freedom be eternal!
President Vjosa Osmani met with the Commission for review and evaluation of pardon requests
The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, met today with the Chairperson of the Commission for the Review and Evaluation of Requests for Pardon, Prof. Haki Demolli, and the members of the Commission. The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani appoints Ms. Learta Hollaj to the post of the Chief of Staff
The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has appointed Ms. Learta Hollaj as the Chief of Staff. Ms. Hollaj has previously held the position of Deputy Chief of Staff to the President. Ms. Hollaj joined President Osmani’s team four years ago, initially as an Advisor to the Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, and later as Deputy Chief of Staff to the President. During this period, Ms. Hollaj’s engagement has been focused on foreign policy, sustainable development policies, the energy sector, as well as advancing the Women, Peace and Security agenca. Ms. Hollaj has several years of experience in civil society in Kosovo, with expertise in democratic governance, the energy sector, environmental protection, and research and advocacy in public policy. Ms. Hollaj completed her Bachelor’s studies at RIT Kosovo in Prishtina, and her Master’s studies at the Central European University in Budapest. President Osmani thanked Ms. Hollaj for her ongoing dedication in the position of Deputy Chief of Staff and wished her success in fulfilling the objectives of the President and her Cabinet in her newly appointed position.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, received in a farewell meeting the outgoing Director of UNICEF for Kosovo, Nona Zicherman, whom she thanked for her commitment so far. Continuation of cooperation with UNICEF in the area of child rights, such as early childhood education, ensuring necessary infrastructure for access to pre-school institutions, improving the quality of education, and ensuring gender equality were the topics discussed during the meeting. President Osmani emphasized the importance of providing children with quality education and empowering their well-being. Meanwhile, Ms. Zicherman thanked President Osmani for her support and wished for continued good cooperation, even by her successor in this position.
President Osmani commemorated the 25th anniversary of the Rezalla Massacre
On 5 April 1999, forces of the genocidal regime of Serbia surrounded the houses of the village of Rezalla and brutally killed 98 boys and men. The remains of 44 of the victims were found several years later in Rudnica of Rashka. The criminal Serbian regime committed such heinous crimes all over Kosovo; therefore, bringing the perpetrators of the crime to justice is necessary and essential. Justice for the victims and eternal memory for them! May the memory of all fallen for freedom be eternal!
President Osmani commemorates the 25th anniversary of the Kralan and Qupevë e Epërme massacres
25 years ago, the forces of the Serbian genocidal regime of Serbia, in Kralan of Gjakova, after being kidnapped from the column of the displaced, killed and burned 87 civilians from the municipalities of: Klinë, Malishevë and Gjakovë, among them elderly, women, men and children. The criminal regime continued its brutality in the villages of Qupevë e Epërme and e Poshtme, Gllarevë, Përçevë, Sverkë, Gremnik, where they brutally killed 45 Albanian civilians. These massacres are evidence of the Serbian criminal regime’s attempt to exterminate and ethnically cleanse Albanians. Bringing the perpetrators to justice is necessary for lasting peace and for the protection of the truth. May the memory be eternal for all those who fell for freedom!

President Osmani received in a regular meeting today the United States Ambassador, Jeffrey Hovenier. During the meeting, discussions focused on recent developments in the country, with particular emphasis on Kosovo’s accession process in the Council of Europe. Furthermore, President Osmani and Ambassador Hovenier also discussed preparations for holding elections in the north, as well as various aspects of bilateral cooperation.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, hosted in a meeting today the United Kingdom Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Lord Stuart Peach. Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe, the latest developments in the country and the region, as well as security challenges in the region and beyond were discussed during the meeting. On the topic of the Council of Europe, President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo’s membership would be a triumph for democracy and human rights not only in Kosovo but throughout Europe. Furthermore, President Osmani reiterated that through various mechanisms provided by the Council, the protection and guarantee of the rights of all citizens of Kosovo, without distinction, would be ensured. President Osmani expressed gratitude and reiterated the importance of the continuous support extended by the United Kingdom in this direction, as in every other process of membership in international organizations. The security situation, with special emphasis in the north of the country, was discussed during the meeting as well.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, on the World Autism Day, visited the “Autism Speaks” Centre, where she got closely informed on the challenges faced by people with autism and their families. President Osmani’s full post: On World Autism Day, I visited the Autism Speaks Centre, where I learned first-hand of the challenges faced by people with autism and their families. Beyond breaking down stereotypes and inclusion barriers, this category needs daily support so that everyone can realize their full potential. The presidency has continuously supported these associations in the last three years, but a whole system of institutional support must be built, including the residential centre for adults with autism who no longer have parental care. The true success of a country is measured by the support it gives to the people who need it the most.
