President Osmani received Mr. Bertrand Bouyx, Chairman of the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received Mr. Bertrand Bouyx, chairman of the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, simultaneously a member of the National Assembly of France. Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe was discussed at the meeting, with Madam President thanking Mr. Bouyx for his leadership and support provided to Kosovo at the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy, which overwhelmingly voted in favour to advance Kosovo’s membership for a vote in the Parliamentary Assembly. President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe would be an important step for the further strengthening and advancement of human rights through the mechanisms offered by the Council, which would also serve as an additional mechanism for the protection and guarantee of rights of all citizens of Kosovo. In this spirit, President Osmani added that access to the institutions and mechanisms of the Council of Europe, such as the European Court of Human Rights, is above all in the interest of the citizens of Kosovo, without distinction. President Osmani also expressed her gratitude and reiterated the importance of France’s continuous support in this direction, stating her confidence that Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe will be positively evaluated by the representatives of the member states at the Parliamentary Assembly. President Osmani has expressed her full commitment to continue the joint engagements with amicable and allied countries to further advance this process towards its successful completion.

President Osmani commemorates the 25th anniversary of the Massacre at the house of the Vejsa family

The names of the martyred children and women of the families: Vejsa, Caka, Haxhiavdija, Nuqi, Hoxha and Gashi from Gjakova, are an never ending memory and testify to the path of hardship of our aspirations for freedom and statehood. 25 years ago, the Serbian genocidal regime manifested its cruelty by killing and then burning in the basement of the Vejsa family house the members of these families, aged between the ages of 2 and 75. Burning the children of Kosovo alive is the truth of Serbia, which even today continues to protect the criminals who committed these macabre crimes with clear genocidal intent. by keeping their memory alive, we will continue the fight for justice. Eternal memory to all those who fell for freedom!
President Osmani consoles the family, relatives, colleagues and the sports community for the passing away of Professor Shqipe Bajçinca – Brestovci

With deep pain, we received the news of the early death of the professor of the Faculty of Physical Education of the University of Pristina, Shqipe Bajçinca – Brestovci, who, during different periods, held at the same time several positions in different sports organizations within and outside Kosovo. Her contribution to the education of young generations, but also to the development of Kosovar sports, is extraordinary, so she will always be remembered as part of this history. I express my sincere condolences to the family, relatives, colleagues and to the sports community. At these difficult moments for the family, I sympathize with you and encourage you to find strength in coping with the pain.
President Osmani commemorated the Lybeniq massacre

25 years ago, the Serbian genocidal regime, just like it did in many parts of Kosovo, showed its barbarism by killing 79 civilians of the village of Lybeniq. The intent to exterminate the Albanian people did not spare even 18-month-old Muhamet and 7-year-old Leonard. It is our institutional obligation to never stop in our efforts to bring justice to the victims, thus give meaning to our freedom and protection of the truth. President Osmani recalled the 25th anniversary of the Pastaselë, Rahovec and Burim, Malishevë massacres

25 years ago, the forces of the Serbian genocidal regime in Pastaselë, Rahovec, killed and massacred 106 inhabitants of this village and in surrounding villages. On the same day, the criminal regime continued its barbarism in Burim of Malisheva, where 42 civilians were killed and massacred. Today, through memory, we refuse to let the history of the fallen fade away with time. On the contrary, with determination and dedication we will work every day to defend the truth, to demand justice and responsibility for the atrocities committed against our people. May the memory of all those who fell for freedom be eternal!
President Osmani conveys her Easter felicitations

The Easter holiday personifies love and sacrifice for humanity. Easter revives hope for better days, towards a future with faith and hope and I wish every family is surrounded by love, peace and joy! The Easter holiday reflects love, tolerance and generosity, which our people continually nurture. May Easter bring hope, benevolence and prosperity to the entire Albanian nation! Happy Easter!
President Osmani commemorated the Beleg massacre

Surrounded in the yard of a house in Beleg, Deçan, 25 years ago, the police, military and paramilitary forces of the Serbian genocidal regime killed and massacred 46 Albanians after separating men and minors from women. The fate of a part of the forcibly disappeared still remains unclear, and alongside the remembrance of the martyrs, bringing to light the fate of the forcibly disappeared remains an everyday dedication. On the same day and in the very same manner, in the Bair neighborhood of Mitrovica, in Dumnica of Vushtrri and in Poterq of Klina a number of Albanians were also killed. May the memory for all those who fell for freedom be eternal!
President Osmani met the Apostolic Delegate of the Holy See for Kosovo, Jean Marie Speich

The President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani met today with the Apostolic Delegate of the Holy See for Kosovo, nuncio Jean Marie Speich, with whom she discussed the relations between the two countries. Madam President expressed the gratitude of the people and institutions of Kosovo to nuncio Speich for the care that the Holy See and the Holy Father Pope Francis have continuously shown towards Kosovo. She expressed her pleasure for the readiness of the Holy See to offer Kosovo a permanent presence in the Vatican, through the establishment of the Special Mission of Kosovo to the Holy See. “The establishment of the mission is the result of our joint engagement to bringing our countries closer together and augment joint cooperation for peace,” said President Osmani. In particular, the President thanked nuncio Speich for his commitment to the continuous progress of relations between the Holy See and Kosovo. Madam President and nuncio Speich also discussed the possibilities of future cooperation between Kosovo and the Holy See. “Kosovo has a long tradition of cooperation with the Holy See and we are committed to expand this good tradition of cooperation even further”, said President Osmani. Nuncio Speich thanked President Osmani for the reception and expressed his pleasure that the Holy See’s relations with Kosovo have deepened significantly. According to him, the establishment of the Kosovo Mission in the Vatican is an important step in the relations between the two countries.
President Osmani commemorates the massacre of the Bogujevci and Duriqi families

The strategy of the Serbian genocidal regime against Albanians regardless of their age was extermination and ethnic cleansing. 25 years ago, criminal forces brutally killed 14 members of the Bogujevci and Duriqi families, among them 7 children aged 2 to 15 and 7 women. Saranda, Fatos, Jehona, Lirie and Genc Bogujevci are witnesses of this macabre act and the testimonies are in function of the memory and bringing of the perpetrators to face justice. Freedom and peace only makes sense when justice is done! May the memory of the martyrs of the Bogujevci and Duriqi families be eternal!
