President Osmani presented the Presidential Medal of Merit to the Oda rock group

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, in a ceremony held at the Presidency, presented the Presidential Medal to the Oda rock group for the promotion of musical values as part of the golden generation of rock in Kosovo. On behalf of the group, the Medal was received by Mr. Dukagjin Lipa, who thanked President Osmani for the award. President Osmani emphasized that Oda, like many other groups of the 80s, were not only performers, but also catalysts of social changes. “Oda’s music is an emblem of cultural identity and pride for Kosovo. Their musical creativity continues to be evidence of the transformative power of art in different times and periods, being also transformed into a means of resistance”, said President Osmani. Otherwise, the Presidential Medal was awarded to the Oda rock group a year ago in a ceremony where other rock bands of that period were also honored, as were other institutions and personalities who have contributed over the years. It is worth noting that this ceremony was held on the eve of the commencement of the Sunny Hill Festival. Unable to be present due to her international agenda, President Osmani congratulated Mr. Lipa, Dua Lipa and Sunny Hill Foundation for the excellent work, wishing them another immensely successful edition.

President Osmani received yesterday in a regular meeting the US Ambassador Jeffrey Hovenier

President Vjosa Osmani received yesterday in a regular meeting the Ambassador of the United States of America, Jeffrey Hovenier. Participation of President Osmani in activities held within the NATO Summit, at the invitation of President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken, respectively, were discussed at the meeting. Highly praising the US invitation and the presence of Kosovo in these key activities of the Summit as a strategic development to the benefit of the advancement and preservation of peace and security in the region and beyond, President Osmani emphasized the positive impact that Kosovo’s membership in NATO  would have for sustainable and long-term peace and security. President Osmani and Ambassador Hovenier also discussed Madam President’s recent meetings with senior US officials, as well as the concrete steps that should be taken in the future regarding the coordination of actions to the benefit of Kosovo’s interests and  partnership with the USA. Speaking about the latest developments in the country, Madam President expressed her concern regarding yesterday’s decision of the Council of the European Union to lift the visa regime for citizens of Kosovo who possess illegal Serbian passports, stressing that this decision negatively affects the extent of the rule of of the law throughout Kosovo and attacks efforts to integrate the Serbian community in Kosovo. President Osmani and Ambassador Hovenier also discussed a series of legal initiatives that are being handled by institutions recently, confirming the importance of the guarantee in respect  of democratic principles and  highest human rights standards.

President Osmani met with the French ambassador Olivier Guérot

The President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the Ambassador of the French Republic, Olivier Guérot. The results of the fourth summit of the leaders of the European Political Community, held last week in the United Kingdom where, as part of many meetings with other European leaders, Madam President also met the French President Emmanuel Macron, were discussed at the meeting. The latest developments in the country and the region, developments in the field of security, as well as the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue were also discussed. President Osmani and Ambassador Guérot also discussed the October Francophonie summit, where the Republic of Kosovo will be represented by President Osmani.

President Osmani received the Mayor of Arbëresh municipality of Strigari Damiano Baffa

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received the Mayor of Arbëresh municipality of Strigari, Damiano Baffa. According to President Osmani, the cultural and linguistic identity of the Arbëresh is a valuable part of Albanian identity and culture. In this context, President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo remains dedicated and engaged in preserving the Arbëresh identity and improving their position within the Italian state. The possibilities of Strigari’s cooperation with the municipalities of Kosovo was also discussed with Mayor Baffa, in order to promote Arbëresh culture in Kosovo and that of Kosovo in Arbëresh municipalities, as well as the preservation of heritage and bilateral cultural exchanges.

President Osmani met with the Prime Minister of Liechtenstein, Daniel Risch

President Osmani met with the Prime Minister of Iceland, Bjarni Benediktsson

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has met with the Prime Minister of Iceland, Bjarni Benediktsson, under the framework of the 4th European Political Community (EPC) summit. President Osmani said that Iceland is a country that provided the impetus to our journey and efforts for membership in the Council of Europe. “In the meeting with the Prime Minister of Iceland, Bjarni Benediktsson, we discussed the strategic importance of successfully finalizing this journey, by highlighting that with Kosovo’s membership, we triumph in our commitment to the continuous advancement of human rights,” noted the President. President Osmani thanked Prime Minister Benediktsson for the continuous support and confirmed the readiness to intensify cooperation to the benefit of our citizens.

President Osmani meets the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović

President Osmani said that Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, two countries of the Western Balkans, share a painful past, but an unparalleled commitment to work together for justice for the past and a common future in the European Union and in NATO. “During the meeting with the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, we emphasized that the deepening of cooperation between our countries serves the sustainable peace, stability and development of our region in general”, said the President.

President Osmani said that the visible increase in meetings, official visits and exchanges between Kosovo and Ireland is a clear sign of our close and good relations. “At the EPC Summit, in the meeting with Prime Minister Simon Harris, I expressed my gratitude for Ireland’s unsparing support for our Euro-Atlantic journey, while we confirmed the willingness to intensify cooperation at a time of many global challenges”, the President emphasized.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, within the framework of the fourth summit of the European Political Community (EPC), met the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Luc Frieden. President Osmani said that as democratic allies, our countries are fully committed to opening new chapters of cooperation. “At the meeting we also discussed the Euro-Atlantic path of Kosovo, and I expressed my deep gratitude to Prime Minister Frieden for the strong support of Luxembourg”, the President emphasized.
