President Osmani remembers Latif Berisha and Agim Hajrizi

On March 24, 1999, Kosovo lost two prominent humanists: Latif Berisha and Agim Hajrizi. One a writer and intellectual, the other a trade union activist, both patriots dedicated to the freedom and independence of Kosovo. On the same day, Latif Berisha and Agim Hajrizi, along with Agim’s mother and son, were killed by the genocidal Serbian regime. However, their work and sacrifice remain immortal and a reference for generations. Kosovo remembers and honours their work and sacrifice, today and always! May the memory of Latif Berisha, Agim Hajrizi and all those who fell for freedom be eternal!

President Osmani: The Epic of Dukagjin, the torch of freedom

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, on the 27th anniversary of the Epic of Dukagjin, paid homage at the “Martyrs of the Nation” Memorial Complex in Gllogjan and then visited the Haradinaj Tower, where she was received by Mr. Ramush Haradinaj. At the foundation of independent Kosovo lies the sacrifice of the heroes of the KLA, the Haradinaj family and all those who stood up against injustice, and for our freedom and state. We bow before the martyrs Himë Haradinaj, Gazmend Mehmetaj and Agron Mehmetaj with the utmost respect, who gave their lives on this date, to become immortal forever. They became a symbol of resistance, courage and faith in the freedom of Kosovo. In an independent and sovereign Kosovo, the promise of our heroes obliges us to build a strong, dignified, progressive state with strong alliances. Freedom is their legacy, and our responsibility! Glory to the martyrs of our nation! Eternal honour to the KLA!

It was the day when the light of hope triumphed over darkness. A free Kosovo was born from the blaze of sacrifice and the liberation war! 26 years later, Kosovo walks proudly, sovereign and unwavering towards a brighter future. Reaction to Lirim Mehmetaj’s defamation

President Vjosa Osmani will not allow orchestrated defamation to go unanswered. This is not the first time that this person has attempted to manipulate the public with defamation. For this reason, the President will take all legal steps to protect the truth and to seek accountability for the misuse of public speech through the spread of defamation and the purpose of manipulating the public through disinformation. Consequently, President Osmani will file a defamation lawsuit against Mehmetaj to protect personal and institutional integrity. Mehmetaj does not have a single piece of evidence for his defamation and cannot have one, because what he declares is defamation with a tendency to denigrate the President and her family. At the same time, we inform Lirim Mehmetaj that for any defamation made against the President in the future, he will receive the appropriate response, through legal means.

President Osmani received the Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy, Ms. Anu Prattipati

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received today the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy to Kosovo, Ms. Anu Prattipati. The latest developments in the country, the security situation in Kosovo and the region, as well as the steps forward towards the formation of the government were discussed at the meeting. The conversation also focused on concrete engagements following recent visits to Kosovo, including those of the NATO Secretary General, the EU Special Representative for Dialogue, visits by US military representatives, and the visit of the President of Latvia, which took place today. The deepening of cooperation between Kosovo and the United States of America, in accordance with the objectives set by President Donald Trump and his administration, were also a point of discussion. President Osmani and Ms. Prattipati focused particularly on expanding economic cooperation and strengthening the partnership in the field of defense. The meeting also reaffirmed the importance of close relations between Kosovo and the United States and the engagement to the strengthening of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

President Osmani wrote: Today I welcomed on a working visit the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, a valued friend of Kosovo and a steadfast supporter of our Euro-Atlantic path. We discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation, Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic integration and regional security. I thank him for his continued support, especially for membership in the Council of Europe and other international organizations, as well as for Latvia’s engagement in KFOR. Kosovo remains committed to reforms and global security, with strong allies by its side!
