The Regional Center of Excellence for Women, Peace and Security in Kosovo marks the 25th anniversary of UN Resolution 1325

In the month that marks the 25th anniversary of the adoption of United Nations Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security, the Regional Center of Excellence for Women, Peace and Security in Kosovo organized a one-day conference yesterday, during which new 21st century threats affecting women and girls around the world were discussed.

Discussions topics were various, including the gender-based violence facilitated by technology, cybersecurity, data protection and other challenges that constitute new forms of risk that women and girls face every day. To address these challenges, participants from countries in the region discussed ways to strengthen regional cooperation to empower women and girls in their roles, leadership, and decision-making, both in the digital space and in public and political life.

The final part of the conference was dedicated to the personal stories of children of war from Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, moving stories of individuals who have faced intergenerational trauma and transformed pain into strength and success. These inspiring stories demonstrate that building sustainable support systems for survivors of war is essential in creating more inclusive, democratic, and prosperous societies.
