The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, received at a meeting the Mayor of Pristina, Mr. Përparim Rama.
In a meeting with Mr. Rama, President Osmani raised a number of issues and offered her full support for issues that are of civic interest.
According to President Osmani, Prishtina has an important weight in the country, therefore its development, care for the life of citizens in the municipality and the ability to develop it has an impact on the overall development of Kosovo.
The strengthening of the position of women in function of the positive transformation of society in general, as well as about specific projects in this direction were discussed at the meeting.
Furthermore, Madam President raised the issue of increasing care for children with special needs and especially ensuring their access to equal rights, as well as offered cooperation for joint projects in this direction. In particular, she was interested in the Center for Down Syndrome and Autism, on which Mayor Rama informed the President that its construction is expected to be completed by the end of September.
Additionally, President Osmani and President Rama also discussed the issue of care that Kosovo should show towards certain social categories, including the elderly.
“Their living conditions show our care as a society towards to them. Therefore, the improvement of the conditions in the Home for the Elderly, as well as the construction of new centres for this category, in addition to the construction of centres for the rehabilitation of people with narcotics addiction, are very important” emphasized President Osmani.
President Osmani asked the municipality of Pristina to treat the issue of stray dogs as a priority, as it was discussed how models of various advanced countries can be used to deal with this issue, which has become a security issue for our citizens.
President Osmani and Mr. Rama also discussed the possibility of building the facility of the Presidential Library “Dr. Ibrahim Rugova”, an institution that incorporates not only the history of President Rugova, but also of Kosovo's state building.
On the other hand, Mr. Rama informed the President about the projects of the municipality of Pristina and the intention to make the capital multi-centred as well as about other issues in which the local level and the central level can and should cooperate, in the interest of the citizens.
