President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, visited the Deçan Monastery, on the occasion of the Orthodox Easter Holyday.
President Jahjaga, accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister Slobodan Petrović, Ambassador of the United States of America in Kosovo, Tracy Ann Jacobson and KFOR Commander Volker Halbauer, were received at the Monastery by Abbot Sava Janjić and the monks of this religious centre.
President Jahjaga extended her best wishes to Abbot Janjić and all the followers of Orthodox religion on the Easter Day and said that religious tolerance in Kosovo is the greatest value of its society.
“We came here today, at the Deçan Monastery, to wish all the followers of the orthodox religion Happy Easter and I was also honoured to have been accompanied by the Ambassador of the United States of America, Tracy Ann Jacobson as well as by KFOR Commander Volker Halbauer and Deputy Prime Minister Petrović, to pass on the message of tolerance, solidarity and understanding for this community. Interfaith tolerance has been and continues to be one of the most important values of our state, republic of Kosovo. Because we are successfuly building an all inclusive, democratic state, where all communities and each individual, equally, enjoys the same rights and liberties”, said President Jahjaga.
