President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting, the US Congressman, Mr. Robert Aderholt, who participated at the “Breakfast Prayer”, organised under the auspices of the Week of Tolerance and Reconciliation in Prishtina. He was accompanied by Mr. Stan Holmes, Chairman of the foundation for organisation of the Breakfast Prayers.
President Jahjaga said at the beginning that people of Kosovo are grateful to the USA, US administration, US Congress and the American People, for all the help and support they have provided, during all the state building and democratization stages of Kosovo.
She also said that Kosovo is a joint success story of its institutions and its people and the international community, and praised the dedication of the USA and EU on Balkans and European integration processes of the countries of this region.
President Jahjaga stated that continuous US presence in Kosovo is a guarantee for peace and stability not only within the country but for the whole Balkan region. She emphasized that Kosovo has achieved considerable advances in more than a decade, becoming an important factor of peace and stability and a civic state where rights and freedoms of the citizens are respected, regardless.
Madam President also said that Kosovo is dedicated to becoming a member of EU, as is the rest of the Balkan region and is also dedicated to deepening of its internal reforms on its European integration path, for the benefit and wellbeing of its citizens.
She also added that EU integration will help leave behind the past while looking ahead towards the common future as independent and sovereign states, and this is a guarantee for the peace in the whole region.
Speaking about agreements reached in Brussels, during the dialogue process between the Republic of Kosovo and Republic of Serbia, facilitated by EU and supported by USA, Madam President stated that they must be fully implemented because they lead towards normalisation of relations between our two states.
Us Congressman Aderholt, who is at the same time Co-chairman of the US Congress Albanian Caucus, stated that Kosovo has achieved considerable progress in all fields. He said that he is impressed by the positive developments of the country and will continue to support Kosovo at the US Congress.
At the meeting with President Jahjaga, US Congressman Aderholt was accompanied by the Members of the Kosovo Parliament, Mr. Adem Grabovci and Mr. Lutfi Haziri, as well as Kosovo’s Ambassador to Kingdom of Japan, Mr. Ahmet Shala.
