President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, participated at the concert organised in honour of the 237th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America, held at the Mother Teresa Square in Prishtina. Also in attendance were the US Ambassador to Kosovo, Ms. Tracey Ann Jacobson and the deputy Mayor of Prishtina, Mr. Avdullah Hoti.
At the speech held on this occasion, President Jahjaga said:
Honourable Ambassador Jacobson,
Honourable Deputy Mayor of Prishtina, Mr. Hoti,
Honourable citizens of the Republic of Kosovo,
Happy Independence Day of the United States of America.
Let us enjoy it together, the people of Kosovo and the people of the USA, this special day, two countries of ours which have established a very special relationship, as well as eternal friendship between the people of Kosovo and people of America.
Republic of Kosovo expresses its most cordial gratitude to the American people, to the American state, who has been continuously side by side with us, during our most difficult moments and during the most important moments of our state, our freedom and the to the independence of the Republic of Kosovo. It stood by us, and it continues to do so during our state building process, during the empowerment of our international subjectivity and our advancement of the process of our European integrations.
United States of America is a country of democracy, country of freedom, country where human rights and freedoms are respected. USA is a promoter of peace and stability, as well as guarantor of the rights and freedoms of the nations around the world. So, on my personal behalf, and on your behalf, honourable Ambassador, we wish a happy anniversary to all the citizens of the USA, this big day of yours, but ours as well. Have a happy anniversary.
