President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, strongly condemns the acts of violence which occurred in the last 24 hours in Mitrovica, where at three separate incidents five citizens were injured, of whom two are Albanian, two are Bosnian, and one is a member of Serbian community.
President Jahjaga points out that such incidents are unacceptable, at a time when institutions of the Republic of Kosovo are engaging in conservation of stability and strengthening of the rule of law in the whole country and when our country is demonstrating itself as a promoter of peace and stability in the region of South-Eastern Europe.
President Jahjaga calls upon all the citizens of Mitrovica to refrain from such acts of violence and to show civic and political maturity. She considers that such acts do not contribute to the regaining of mutual trust between communities living in Mitrovica and damage years long endeavours of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo and its international friends in building of a better future for all the citizens regardless.
President Jahjaga calls upon the institutions of justice to act with utmost professionalism and to as soon as possible shed light to circumstances which caused these incidents, identify the perpetrators and bring them in front of justice.
