President Jahjaga held a phone conversation with the President of Austria, Mr. Heinz Fischer

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, held today a phone conversation with the President of Austria, Mr. Heinz Fischer to thank him on behalf of the citizens of Kosovo for the decision of the Austrian institutions to increase the number of the Austrian soldiers serving with the KFOR peacekeeping force.

President Jahjaga stated that the increase of the number of Austrian soldiers arriving in Kosovo after the withdrawal of French soldiers due to other priorities, contributes not only to the security in Kosovo but also to the stability of the region.

During the phone call, Madam President stated that Kosovo is concluding this year  with the undertaking of certain important steps on its path of European integrations, including the launching of the negotiations on the SAA, other important developments in relation to the dialogue with Serbia and successful holding of municipal elections on the whole territory of the Republic of Kosovo.

President Jahjaga also stated that the whole western Balkans region is at an important stage of consolidation and stabilisation, which will bring with itself new development oportunities, in order to preserve the joint success achieved in the last decade.

President Jahjaga also thanked President Fischer for the hospitality shown during the last visit of Madam President to Austria, in June this year, and at the same time extended to him the invitation for a state visit to Kosovo.

President of the Republic of Austria, Mr. Heinz Fischer assured the President of the Republic of Kosovo that the new government of Austria will continue to support Kosovo and its European perspective and at the same time accepted the invitation to visit Kosovo in the next year.
