The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga welcomes and highly appreciates the action taken today by the security and the justice mechanisms of the Republic of Kosovo against terrorist suspects, for participation in the war in Syria and Iraq alongside terrorist organizations, as well as the termination of activity in suspicious locations related to the promotion of violent extremism and hatred.
President Jahjaga estimates that the purpose of the operation – through which the detention of a large number of suspects was made and several locations on national level were raided, preventing illegal activities which aim the involvement of Kosovo citizens in terrorist causes – is to ensure a free, secure, peaceful and tolerant Kosovo, deprived of terrorism and crime, phenomenon these which are disparaging our long tradition of religious tolerance and are completely contrary to the values and ideals upon which we built our country.
President Jahjaga stressed that this operation has for target the confronting with the power of law of all those who have encouraged and inspired actions which pose a threat to the national security of the Republic of Kosovo, of our citizens, the region and beyond. President Jahjaga thanks in particular the members of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency and the Kosovo Police for their hard work to identify and prevent the dangers threatening Kosovo and its strategic allies from terrorism. She also appreciates the work and commitment of the State Prosecutor in the establishment of the rule of law and order.
President Jahjaga said that Kosovo will not be a shelter of extremism and reiterated the stand that the Kosovo institutions will never permit for the country to turn into a source of criminal and terrorist activities which threaten the peace, stability and constitutional order.
The institutions of the Republic of Kosovo will be without compromise in the protection of national security. We shall remain determined to accomplish our commitment for the creation of the state of equal citizens, which will guarantee the rights of every citizen, civil freedoms and the equality of all citizens before the law, and for Kosovo to be a factor of peace and stability.
