President Osmani commemorates the anniversary of the Massacre in Lagje e Re and Rakoc, Kaçanik

Today, we commemorate with utmost respect the anniversary of the Massacre in Lagje e Re and Rakoc, Kaçanik, where 28 martyrs of the Kosovo Liberation Army fell heroically and 32 civilians were brutally killed. They sacrificed themselves for our freedom, in defense of the civilian population from the barbarity of the Serbian genocidal regime. The memory of them and the martyrs will always remain a guide for us and the generations to come.
Madam President: The Constitution is our joint contract for a democratic, just, and equal society

Today, we mark one of the most important moments in the state history of Kosovo, the adoption of our Constitution, which on April 9th 2008, laid the legal and institutional foundations of our independent state. The Constitution is our joint contract for a democratic, just, and equal society. It guarantees the fundamental freedoms and rights of every citizen, regardless of ethnicity, gender, or affiliation, establishing the rule of law as the foundation of the functioning of institutions. On this day, we reaffirm our commitment to protect the Constitution, to implement it meticulously, and to abide by it in every decision, policy, and action. Only through strengthening the rule of law and respecting the constitutional order may we build a state that serves its citizens with dignity and justice. A state that adheres to and respects the letter and spirit of the Constitution is the guarantor of a secure and just future for all of its citizens.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, received a delegation from the United Kingdom, led by MP Alex Sobel and member of “City Leaders”, Cllr Helen Hayden. During the meeting, they discussed the possibilities for the expansion of cooperation in various fields, with a focus on sectors of mutual interest and on concrete opportunities for advancing joint projects. They also discussed the steps being taken following the President’s initiative for a strategic cooperation agreement in the fields of defense and economy, which was welcomed by the United Kingdom’s Secretary.
