President Osmani: The home should never become a crime scene!

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has reacted after the grievous crime that occurred today in Prizren. President Osmani’s reaction in full: The home should never become a crime scene! When within the four walls of the home – where there should be love, security and warmth – a crime as grievous as the one that occurred today, where one girl is killed by the hand of her father and the other girl remains injured together with her mother, occurs, we are not any longer facing a family tragedy. We are facing a social drama, an alarm that rings loudly for everyone. For every society and every country! This is not just a crime. It is a barbaric act. I call on the justice authorities: act with the maximum force of the law, without any mercy towards violence! Thorough investigation, maximal punishment – this is the bare minimum that justice requires in this case. But justice after tragedy is not enough. Prevention is required! Prevention to stop the hand that strikes, to save the lives that are defenseless today . We can never turn our heads to the side! There is no more “it’s a family matter” when violence erodes the very heart of a society from within. The home must not become a place of fear. It must remain a sacred refuge! Deepest condolences for the innocent life lost. Prayers for strength and healing for the survivors. And a loud voice for justice!
