President Sejdiu contemns last night’s incident in Mitrovica

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu condemned the incident that occurred last night in Mitrovica, emphasizing that such events mar the image of Republic of Kosovo and only serve those who oppose peace, stability and welfare of all the people of the country without ethnic or religious distinction.

“The adoption of the Resolution on Kosovo at the UN General Assembly is a new and major turning point for Kosovo, because it closes the cycle of efforts by Serbia and helps all others that have hesitated to enter a more dynamic process in terms of recognizing the independence of Republic of Kosovo and adhering to the opinion of the International Court of Justice on the declaration of Kosovo’s independence”, President Sejdiu said at a press conference today upon his return from New York, where the UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution filed by Serbia, in coordination with the EU member countries.

Kosovo state delegation carries out intensive activities in New York

In the framework of intensive activities carried out these days in New York, the delegation of the Republic of Kosovo, composed of President Sejdiu, Prime Minister Thaçi and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met today with the ambassadors of Quint member countries, for the purpose of fine-tuning their position prior to the UN General Assembly due to be held tomorrow.

Republic of Kosovo expects the support of the League of Arab States

Today, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the President of Republic of Kosovo Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Skender Hyseni held a presentation to all the ambassadors to the United Nations of the League of Arab States. The Arab League and Organization of Islamic Conference ambassadors to the United Nations were also in attendance.

President Sejdiu and Minister Hyseni depart for New York

The President of Republic of Kosovo Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu embarked on a trip to New York today, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Skender Hyseni. Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, who is staying for a visit in Qatar, will join them later.

The United States reaffirms its full support for the Republic of Kosovo

The President of Republic of Kosovo Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu, the Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Skender Hyseni and the Minister of Kosovo Security Force Fehmi Mujota had today a joint meeting with the United States ambassadors to the NATO and European Union Mr. Ivo Daalder (NATO) and Mr. William Kennard (EU). The United States Ambassador to Kosovo Mr. Christopher Dell also attended the meeting.

“Germany will also provide a political support to Kosovo, on the road on which it has embarked, and will engage in ensuring a further recognition for the Republic of Kosovo around the world”, the German Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Guido Westerwelle said today in Prishtinë during a meeting that he had with the President of Republic of Kosovo Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu, which was also attended by Prime Minister Thaçi and Minister of Foreign Affairs Skënder Hyseni.
