The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, in a special ceremony, awarded the Presidential Medal of Merit to the President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino. President Osmani wrote: It is a special honor to, on behalf of the people of Kosovo, I bestow today the honour of the Presidential Medal of Merit to the President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, a true friend of our country and of football that unites people across borders. Thank you, President Infantino, for standing with us in both triumphs and challenges. Kosovo will be forever grateful! 

President Vjosa Osmani received the new KFOR Commander, Major General Özkan Ulutaş

Following the assumption of the duty of the KFOR Commander, the President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received Major General Özkan Ulutaş yesterday. On this occasion, President Osmani congratulated him on his new task as the KFOR Commander and on his return to Kosovo, expressing full confidence in the continuation of close cooperation in order to fulfil the joint goals for peace and security in Kosovo and in the region. In this spirit, she reiterated her gratitude for the engagement and dedication of all military personnel serving within KFOR. Discussing developments in the field of security, as well as threats coming from Serbia, including threats with a special focus on the use of drones, Madam President emphasized the importance of KFOR coordination and cooperation with our security institutions in order to prevent Serbia’s destabilizing tactics.

President Osmani received the Belgian Minister of Justice, Ms. Annelies Verlinden, and the Minister of Asylum and Migration, Ms. Anneleen Van Bossuyt

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, received today the Belgian Minister of Justice, Ms. Annelies Verlinden, and the Minister of Asylum and Migration, Ms. Anneleen Van Bossuyt. The excellent bilateral relations between Kosovo and Belgium, cooperation in the fields of justice, security, rule of law, as well as the European integration process and cooperation in the fields of security and defense were discussed at the meeting. President Osmani expressed deep gratitude for Belgium’s continued support to Kosovo and emphasized that Belgium remains one of Kosovo’s most reliable and principled partners on its path towards the European Union and NATO. In this context, President Osmani stressed the importance of accelerating Kosovo’s European integration process, underlining that the country’s institutions are fully committed to implementing reforms that strengthen democracy, the rule of law and accountability. She stressed that Kosovo’s citizens are among the most pro-European on the continent and that the lifting of EU measures should happen as soon as possible and that it would be a right step towards restoring trust and advancing the country’s European agenda. In this context, in relation to Kosovo’s path to EU integration, President Osmani stressed the need for Belgium to take a leading role in pushing forward Kosovo’s application to the EU. President Osmani highlighted the tangible results in the area of the rule of law and justice, including the fight against corruption and organised crime, which have been positively assessed by international partners. According to President Osmani, the close cooperation between Kosovo and Belgium in justice, security and defense is a model of European partnership that strengthens peace, stability and a common perspective.

President Osmani received the Austrian Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Family, Ms. Claudia Plakolm, and the Slovenian State Secretary for European Affairs, Ms. Neva Grašič

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, hosted today the Austrian Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Family, Ms. Claudia Plakolm, and the Slovenian State Secretary for European Affairs, Ms. Neva Grašič. Kosovo’s excellent relations with Austria and Slovenia were discussed at the meeting. President Osmani thanked them for their support for Kosovo, as well as for their engagement in promoting regional stability. President Osmani further emphasized Kosovo’s progress in implementing European reforms and requested the support of Austria and Slovenia for the lifting of the EU’s restrictive measures, describing them as unjustified in relation to the country’s achievements. President Osmani also said that she hopes that these two friendly countries will be among the strongest voices in pushing forward Kosovo’s application for EU candidate status, as they have done with several countries in the region before. Finally, President Osmani underlined that Kosovo remains fully committed to the European values of democracy, equality and human rights, while friendship and partnership with Austria and Slovenia are important pillars of the country’s foreign policy.

President Osmani participates in the Brdo-Brijuni regional leaders Summit in Durrës

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has departed for Albania to participate in the regional leaders Summit in Durrës, within the framework of the Brdo-Brijuni Initiative. The Brdo-Brijuni Summit is organized by the presidents of Slovenia and Croatia, Nataša Pirc Musar and Zoran Milanović, and will be chaired by the president of Albania, Bajram Begaj, as the host of the meeting in Durrës. With the theme: “Common interests, common commitment for a common future: Together towards the EU”, this year’s meeting will focus on the European perspective of the Western Balkan countries and on strengthening regional cooperation, with a focus on the Regional Growth Plan proposed by the European Union. The Brdo-Brijuni Initiative aims to promote regional cooperation and facilitate the efforts of the countries of the region on their path towards the European Union.

Regional Center of Excellence for Women, Peace and Security in Kosovo welcomes US-based organization Our Secure Future

The Regional Center of Excellence for Women, Peace and Security in Kosovo held a meeting with the US-based organization Our Secure Future. Advisor to President Osmani and also coordinator of the Center of Excellence Dora Musa and the external expert Adelina Hasani, discussed progress and challenges on the Women, Peace and Security Agenda, in addition to the work that the Center is continuously carrying on. The Our Secure Future organization, represented by Vice President Sahana Dharmapuri, and other officials of the organization in question, presented their work and achievements around the world. Considering the current security situation, the parties exchanged ideas on the necessary global actions for the effective advancement of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda.

President Osmani received Admiral Stuart B. Munsch, Commander of the NATO Allied Joint Forces Command in Naples

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, held a meeting today with Admiral Stuart B. Munsch, Commander of the NATO Allied Joint Forces Command in Naples. During the meeting, President Osmani highly praised the role of KFOR and its continuous commitment to guaranteeing peace and security for the citizens of Kosovo, and in this context, she reiterated that the relationship between the security institutions of Kosovo and KFOR is essential for the joint mission of stability and security in the country. The President also highlighted that Kosovo remains fully committed to its Euro-Atlantic path, building the Kosovo Security Force according to NATO standards and fulfilling all commitments to the Alliance. At the meeting, President Osmani stressed the security challenges in the north of the country and the ongoing threats from Serbia, emphasizing the importance of KFOR’s role as an important factor in preventing escalations and maintaining peace. President Osmani expressed gratitude for NATO’s continued support and Kosovo’s determination to be a reliable and active partner of the democratic world.
