President Osmani met with the Speaker of the Assembly of Lithuania Mrs. Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, in continuation of the meetings held during her official visit to Lithuania, was received today at a meeting by the Speaker of the Assembly of Lithuania, Mrs. Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen. Both sides stressed the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation. “Parliamentary diplomacy is a good opportunity to affirm our common positions which are guided by our common vision for a peaceful, democratic and secure Europe,” said President Osmani. At the meeting, President Osmani said that Kosovo is interested in benefiting from the experience of Lithuania, especially in terms of the EU integration process. In this context, she asked for the continuation of Lithuania’s support for Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic path, with special emphasis on support for membership in the CoE, NATO, as well as other international organizations through the mechanisms available to the parliament. President Osmani also discussed Kosovo’s support for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia, while emphasizing that Russia continues to try to destabilize the Western Balkans region through Serbia.

President Osmani departed on an official visit to Lithuania at the invitation of President Gitanas Nausėda

During the official visit to Lithuania, the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani Sadriu will meet with senior state representatives to discuss the strengthening of interstate partnership and the joint response to the political and security situation in Europe. The President will be received by her counterpart Gitanas Nausėda, with whom she will discuss the strengthening of interstate relations, the increase of mutual cooperation as well as the coordination of foreign and security policy. The President will also meet with the Prime Minister of the country, Ingrida Šimonytė as well as the Speaker of the Lithuanian Parliament, Viktorija  Čmilytė-Nielsen. Accompanied by Interior Minister Agnė Bilotaitė, President Osmani will visit the registration centre for war refugees from Ukraine and then address a group of academics and students at the Institute for International Relations and Political Science to discuss the protection of democracy.

President Osmani traveled to Washington DC to attend the Munich Conference Leaders meeting

President Osmani and representatives of other countries attending the Conference will meet in the United States to discuss the security situation in Europe following the Russian aggression on Ukraine and the strengthening of the transatlantic partnership.   During the conference, the President will speak at the panel on energy security as well as at several other events. This conference will bring together dozens of decision-makers and senior experts from both sides of the Atlantic to discuss how transatlantic partners can build a more sustainable alliance and advance joint interaction and leadership on security challenges including the current war in Ukraine.
