At the official opening of the meeting of the leaders of the Munich Conference being held in Washington D.C this year, the President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani met with US administration officials, congressmen and senators, ministers from different countries and representatives of think tanks from America and Europe.
At the meeting with President Biden's National Security Adviser Mr. Jake Sullivan, President Osmani discussed the situation in the Western Balkans after the Russian invasion on Ukraine and the challenges this region is facing. She thanked President Biden's administration for its key role in defending democracy and security on our continent, and above all for the extraordinary support the United States of America and in particular President Biden has historically provided to Kosovo.
The President also met with the Minister of European Affairs of Finland, Tytti Tuppurainen, with whom she discussed Kosovo's preparations for application in international organizations and the reforms undertaken by our country, which advance Kosovo on its Euro-Atlantic path.
At this conference, President Osmani also spoke to the Federal Minister of Germany Wolfgang Schmidt, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis, Senator Chris Coons, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar, NATO Deputy Secretary-General Mircea Geoana, leader of the Munich Conference Ambassador Christoph Heusgen, Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger as well as other representatives attending the conference.
Today MadamPresident will speak at the panel on energy security as well as at several other events. This conference brought together dozens of decision-makers and senior experts from both sides of the Atlantic to discuss how transatlantic partners can build a more sustainable alliance and advance interaction and joint leadership on security challenges, including the current war in Ukraine.
