President Osmani received the Austria-Kosovo Friendship Group of the Austrian Parliament

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today a delegation of the Austria-Kosovo Friendship Group of the Austrian Parliament, consisting of MPs of various political party affiliations in Austria. At the meeting with the Austrian delegation, President Osmani thanked the state of Austria for its support to Kosovo throughout the years, and expressed her willingness to open new chapters of cooperation between our two countries. In this regard, President Osmani also mentioned the vital role played by our diaspora in Austria as a connecting bridge of bilateral cooperation, and in further strengthening of excellent interstate relations. The latest developments in the field of security were also discussed at the meeting. Madam President mentioned the continuous Serbian destructive acts, which are directly aimed at destabilizing our country. President Osmani emphasized that bringing to justice the criminal groups supported by Serbia which attacked Kosovo Police, KFOR and EULEX members, journalists and citizens is mandatory. In this spirit, President Osmani added that Kosovo is committed to contributing to the peace and stability of the country and the region, in coordination with the allies. President Osmani also stated that Kosovo appreciates Austria’s important support for the integration of Kosovo in EU and other international organizations, stressing that the advancement of Kosovo in the international arena brings more stability and prosperity to all its citizens, without distinction. The possibilities of increasing the cooperation between Kosovo and Austria were also discussed and in this context President Osmani mentioned the Kosovo’s economic potential and the favourable environment for foreign investors. Foreign policy, education, women’s empowerment and trade exchange were also mentioned in the context of expansion of Kosovo’s cooperation with Austria.

President Osmani expresses her condolences for the loss of life of the three members of the Pacolli and Visoka families

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, following the extraction of three lifeless bodies from the Lepenc river, has conveyed her condolences to the Pacolli and Visoka families, whose family members fell victim of the tragic accident. “It is with deep pain that I received the news of the tragic death of three of your family members. In these difficult moments for your families, I empathize with you and encourage you to find strength to cope with the pain. May their memory be eternal!” says President Osmani’s consoling message. President Osmani also wished Shkëlqim, the only survivor of this accident, a speedy recovery and thanked the Kosovo Security Force, the Kosovo Police, the Kosovo Search and Rescue Association teams as well as the search and rescue team from North Macedonia for their engagement.

President Osmani on a working visit to Germany

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani visited Berlin on a working visit focused on essential discussions on the latest developments in the country, as well as in support and empowerment of people with special needs. President Osmani participated in the Special Olympics Berlin 2023, in support of our athletes with special needs. In this Olympics, the Republic of Kosovo is represented by four athletes in the discipline of athletics. Supporting people with special needs is one of the main causes of President Osmani and on this occasion, she emphasized that these athletes are an example of the power of diversity, inclusiveness and equal participation and extraordinary determination for the heights of success. On the sidelines of the Special Olympics, President Osmani had discussions with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Olaf Scholz. In separate discussions with them, President Osmani confirmed the readiness for continued cooperation and coordination with the aim of preserving and peace in the region and thanked Germany for its firm stance on the release of the three policemen kidnapped days ago. During her stay in Berlin, President Osmani was also received the Bundesrat President Peter Tschentscher, a first time that a President of the Republic of Kosovo was received at the Bundesrat. President Osmani also held a meeting with members of the largest parties represented at the Bundestag, who are also members of the Foreign Affairs Committee. At these meetings, President Osmani spoke of the latest developments in the country, security challenges and the importance of cooperation to overcome them, as well as the further expansion of cooperation between our two countries. Regarding the latest developments and steps ahead, President Osmani held a meeting with journalists at Korrespondten.cafe Berlin and was the keynote speaker at the round table organized by the Aspen Institute Germany. In the spirit of promoting and supporting sports, President Osmani visited the oldest Albanian football club in Germany “FC Liria Berlin”. This club, in addition to having managed to unite the Albanians in the diaspora and keep alive the sports and cultural life in Berlin, is also the only diaspora club which, commencing in September this year will become part of the Bundesliga Futsal. President Osmani also met with many friends of the Republic of Kosovo, whom she thanked for their steadfast support and commitment to the expansion of the cooperation between the two countries.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani met with the President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, in the margins of the World Special Olympics Berlin 2023. “In the margins of Special Olympic World Games Berlin 2023, I had the chance to discuss recent developments in Kosovo with the German President Steinmeier. In the spirit of great Kosovo and Germany relations, we confirmed the readiness for continuous cooperation & coordination at the benefit of regional peace and stability,” wrote President Osmani.

President Vjosa Osmani is currently on a working visit in Berlin, during which she had meetings at both chambers of the German Parliament, Bundesrat and Bundestag, as well as with many representatives of civil society and the diplomatic corps. In separate meetings with the Bundesrat President Mr. Peter Tschentscher and with the members of the Bundestag Foreign Affairs Committee, President Osmani expressed the gratitude of the citizens of Kosovo for the support that Germany provided to democracy building and protection of peace and security in Kosovo. She also confirmed the importance of continuous cooperation and coordination in addressing the latest challenges in the field of security. In discussions with the parliamentarians, as well as in conversations with the civil society and the diplomatic corps, President Osmani laid a special emphasis on the fact that the current developments in Kosovo are not only related to the security of Kosovo but that it is about the security of the entire continent. By confirming Kosovo’s readiness for constructive engagement, she emphasized the importance of regular communication and exchange between all parties, ensuring a fair and clear understanding of the situation, as well as the real source of instability in the Western Balkans. President Osmani was received by the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani was received in a meeting by Prime Minister Xavier Bettel during her visit to Luxembourg. Among the topics discussed at this meeting was the current political and security situation in Kosovo, specifically in the north of the country after the kidnapping of three Kosovo police officers by Serbia. Further, President Osmani said that Kosovo is committed to peace and stability and that it will overcome challenges with the partners and allies. Referring to the recent developments in the north, President Osmani stressed that it is necessary to bring before justice the Serbia-backed criminal groups, which attacked the Kosovo Police, KFOR and EULEX members, journalists and citizens. The President emphasized the need to increase the engagement of the European Union as a dialogue mediator towards the full implementation of the agreements reached this year in Brussels and Ohrid. The President thanked Prime Minister Bettel for the development support provided to Kosovo, as well as the support provided for visa liberalisation. At the same time, President Osmani expressed confidence in the continuous support for Kosovo’s European path.

President Osmani was welcomed by the Grand Duke of Luxembourg

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani was received in a meeting by His Highness, the Grand Duke of Luxembourg Henri, during her visit to Luxembourg. The good relations between the two countries were reconfirmed and the possibilities for the further deepening of bilateral relations were discussed in the meeting. At the same time, President Osmani thanked the Grand Duke for his unremitting support to Kosovo.
