On the one hand, his exemplary preparation, and on the other hand the excellence of the American military courses, resulted in the extraordinary success of Ylli, and through him of all of Kosovo. Successful at West Point, successful in the US Infantry Officer Basic Course and successful in completing Ranger School which is the most challenging course in the US Army.
President Osmani met with the US Ambassador Jeffrey Hovenier
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today in a regular meeting the Ambassador of the United States of America Jeffrey Hovenier, with whom she discussed the developments in the country, with a special focus on the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia. The continuation of coordination with partners, taking into consideration the fact that our institutions as well as the US ones aim for the same goal of de-escalation of the situation in the north of the country, was also discussed at the meeting.
President Osmani received representatives of the Albanian community in Australia
President Vjosa Osmani received today representatives of the Albanian community in Australia, Mr. Sezar Jakupi and Mr. Jim Mehmeti. At the meeting, President Osmani appreciated their engagement in the empowerment of the Albanian community in Australia, as well as in the protection and promotion of the language, culture and traditions. She also expressed her deep gratitude for their continuous work in support of Kosovo and the rapprochement of our two countries and societies. President Osmani emphasized that Australia is an amicable country that has continuously supported Kosovo in its state-building path and that there is tremendous scope for the expansion of this cooperation in various areas of mutual interest. Related to this, they agreed on cooperation and regular communication in order to concretize certain initiatives as quickly as possible.
President Osmani commemorated the anniversary of the Rahovec Massacre
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani commemorated the anniversary of the Rahovec Massacre. Below is President Osmani full commemorative note: On July 19th 1998, the forces of the Serbian genocidal regime heinously killed almost 150 women, children and elderly, sheltered in Sheikh Myhedin’s Tekke in Rahovec, as well as in the place known as “Tuma”. Today’s commemoration is not only an opportunity to remember this despondent day, to remember the past and to honor the victims, but above all, it is a call for justice. The memory of lost innocent lives will be eternal, as shall our voice for justice echo until it triumphs!
The “Dr. Ibrahim Rugova” Presidential Library is enriched with the publications of the Academy of Sciences of Albania
The “Dr. Ibrahim Rugova” Presidential Library has been enriched with about 600 new titles, publications of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Albania. The handover and acceptance of books took place at a ceremony organized at the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Albania where President Osmani’s adviser Mr. Vehbi Miftari and the head of the Presidential Library Florent Rrahmani were received by the scientific secretary of the Academy, academician Shaban Sinani and academician Vasil Tole, vice president of the Academy of Sciences of Albania. The head of the Presidential Library, Mr. Rrahmani, stated that this collection enriches the contents of the library and further expands inter-institutional cooperation, at the same time it also offering new opportunities to scholars and researchers. “The publications donated by the Academy of Sciences to the Presidential Library, has special weight not only for inter-institutional cooperation, but also for opening new opportunities for researchers”, said Rrahmani. On behalf of the President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani he thanked the Academy for their readiness for cooperation and contribution Mr. Shaban Sinani, scientific secretary at the Academy, emphasized that it is an honor for our publications to be part of the Presidential Library. “It is a special honor for us that a part of the Academy’s publications, especially those in the field of Albanology, are part of the Presidential Library. We express our readiness to continue this manner of cooperation in the future,” said Sinani.

Thank you very much, Honourable Prime Minister Kurti, Deputy Prime Minister Rexhepi, Honourable Ministers, Sveçla and Mehaj, Honourable Director Hoxha, Senior Police staff and academic staff of the Academy for Public Safety, Honourable KFOR Commander, Kosovo Security Force Deputy Commander Dear officers and police officers of the Kosovo Police, Officials of partner countries, Dear Cadets of the 58th Generation, And above all, dear proud family members Today is an important day for all of us, as we have gathered to celebrate the graduation of the youngest members of the Police force of the Republic of Kosovo. I stand before you with pride and great honour, as you demonstrate the culmination of your hard work, dedication and commitment to serve the state and to protect all our citizens. Let me express my most heartfelt congratulations to each and every one of you! Graduating from the police academy is no small feat. It requires discipline, persistence and a determined desire to uphold the principles of justice, security and the rule of law. Today you have shown that you possess the necessary qualities to serve as guardians of the state and of our citizens! Remember that the badge you wear represents not only the authority you have been given, but above all the hopes and aspirations of our citizens. Your actions will shape public perception, as your engagement to upholding of law and order will determine the legitimacy of our law enforcement institutions. Today I stand before you full of pride and great respect for each one of you at these moments when you will take the sacred oath to fulfil the duties defined by the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, and you will join your colleagues to take on the responsibility for maintaining order and public safety in the entire territory of the Republic of Kosovo as well as the responsibility for border control and protection in direct cooperation with the local authorities, as well as with our international partners. The current challenges, threats and risks to state security relate Serbia’s traditional conventional and unconventional threats to our country, alongside the complication caused by organized crime, corruption, terrorism and transnational crime. As a result of dynamic global developments, the dividing line between external and internal, regional, continental and global threats and dangers has become almost invisible, therefore it is necessary for the Republic of Kosovo with its institutions to become a full member of Interpol and Europol. The Republic of Kosovo as a member of Europol and Interpol will improve the effectiveness and cooperation between member states in preventing and fighting organized crime in the international dimension, knowing that the Kosovo Police was built and developed according to the most advanced models, values and standards of countries of western democracies. Dear participants, I am very pleased that among the 419 new policemen, we have 85 policemen from the ranks of non-majority communities and 47 girls and women, which already reconfirms the great trust of our citizens and from the ranks of the communities in our Police, as well as the determination of our women and girls of all communities to serve and contribute to the mission of security, freedom and rights for all without distinction. The more women in security institutions, the more security for all our citizens, without distinction! Of course, while today’s number is to be admired, we must all work together to increase even more the number of girls and women, but also of non-majority communities in our police. Honourable policemen and policewomen, hold into your minds and hearts the sacred oath you will take today and the responsibility to protect and serve forever with honor and pride. For this reason today, all of us together once again express our gratitude and pride of our police officers who are serving in the north of our country to protect every inch of the Republic of Kosovo. All of you have chosen a noble profession, and I have full confidence in your abilities to carry out your duties with honor, dedication and respect! May you be the embodiment of justice, security, protection of the rights of our citizens and elevation of the values of our state! President Osmani: Violence cannot be turned into a political tool
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani has condemned the physical violence between the Members of the Assembly of Kosovo which occurred today during the plenary session. Below is Madam President’s reaction in its entirety: The use of physical violence as a means to address grievances, differences or political disagreements is the greatest damage that can be inflicted upon the institutions that were built with so much to sacrifice. The Assembly is the cornerstone of our democratic society, where different voices come together to represent the interests of citizens, hence violence has no place in the temple of democracy and cannot be turned into a political tool. We must reaffirm our commitment to democracy, difference of opinion as well as mutual respect, relying on the rule of law and in respect of the law.
President Osmani received in a farewell meeting the Ambassador of Norway Jens Erik Grondahl
The President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today in a farewell meeting the Norwegian Ambassador. President Osmani expressed her appreciation for the close relations and partnership with Norway. In this context, she thanked Ambassador Grondahl for his engagement to the expansion of bilateral relations between Kosovo and Norway as well as for the support provided to the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo. President Osmani emphasized the importance of continuing Norway’s support for Kosovo’s NATO membership and in other international organizations, as well as for the finalization of the free trade agreement with the EFTA countries. Political and security developments in the north of the country were also discussed during the meeting, with President Osmani emphasizing the will of Kosovo’s institutions to overcome the current situation together with the allies.
President Osmani, on the Srebrenica Genocide Remembrance Day, received the Member of Parliament Šemsudin Mehmedović and a delegation of representatives of the Bosnian community in Kosovo
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, on the Srebrenica Genocide Remembrance Day, received the Member of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Šemsudin Mehmedović, as well as a delegation of representatives of the Bosnian community in Kosovo, which included the Deputy Prime Minister Emilija Redžepi and member of the Assembly of the Republic. At the meeting, President Osmani emphasized that the suffering of the Bosnian people on this sad day is also shared by the people of Kosovo, stressing that the genocide in Srebrenica is a symbol of the horror of the Serbian genocidal crimes. Madam President also said that the memory of them is a day to day occurrence, and mentioned the macabre crimes and massacres of the Serbian genocidal regime against the people of Kosovo. The President reiterated the strong condemnation against any attempt to deny the Srebrenica genocide, as this denial is aimed at denigrating the victims and hiding the motives of the crimes committed. At the discussion with MP Mehmedović, President Osmani said that joint coordination is extremely important in this period when the tendencies for destabilization and undermining of peace are increasing, therefore in this direction, she also appreciated the extraordinary contribution of the Bosnian community in Kosovo as a connecting bridge of this coordination. During the meeting, MP Mehmedović thanked President Osmani for her continuous support, as well as for her role in the adoption of the Resolution of the Assembly of the Republic on the Genocide in Srebrenica.
