The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, during her two-day official visit to Croatia, met with the Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković. In relation to recent developments in Kosovo, President Osmani stated that on September 24th in Banjska, Serbia committed a terrorist attack and an act of aggression against Kosovo with the aim of annexing the north of Kosovo and destabilizing the entire region. In this context, President Osmani emphasized the importance of holding Serbia responsible for its act of aggression against the Republic of Kosovo. President Osmani emphasized that in order for peace to be possible in the region, Serbia must withdraw its military troops from the border with Kosovo, because they pose a danger to peace and stability. In addition, she discussed with the Croatian Prime Minister the evidence collected by the Kosovo police that directly links Serbia to this attack, as well as the cooperation of security institutions with our allies in order to prevent Serbia’s destabilizing agenda. Among other things, President Osmani thanked Prime Minister Plenković for the contribution of Croatian soldiers to the KFOR mission in Kosovo and bilateral cooperation in the field of defense between Kosovo and Croatia as they discussed the possibilities of expanding the cooperation in this field. President Osmani pointed out that Kosovo has as a state priority its membership in NATO due to the security challenges that our region faces, potentiating the importance of advancing the country’s membership in the Council of Europe and the European Union as well as other international organizations.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani commenced today her two-day official visit to Croatia, where she was received with the highest state honors by the President of Croatia Zoran Milanović. At the meeting with President Milanović, President Osmani thanked Croatia for its support to Kosovo during all the state building stages. President Osmani emphasized that Croatia is a friend and ally of Kosovo in the region and in the Euro-Atlantic structures, and that the two countries have excellent relations. In this function, according to President Osmani, the Albanian community in Croatia and the Croatian community in Kosovo are a powerful connecting bridge between the two countries. President Osmani also informed her counterpart Milanović on the terrorist attack and Serbia’s act of aggression against Kosovo, coordination with allies and the international security presence in Kosovo, and also discussed the expansion of cooperation in order to overcome the security challenges. According to President Osmani, the people and institutions of the Republic of Kosovo are committed to peace, stability and security in the country and in the region. President Osmani also reiterated Kosovo’s aim for membership in the Euro-Atlantic structures, and assessed the support by Croatia as important in the successful completion of all of the integrative processes. President Osmani and President Milanović, also discussed and expressed the willingness to increase cooperation in the field of foreign policy, defense, economy, as well as other spheres of mutual interest.
President Osmani departed on an official visit to Croatia
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, at the invitation of President Zoran Milanović, has departed on an official visit to Croatia, with the discussions focusing on the further expansion of bilateral relations and the latest developments in the country and the region. President Osmani’s agenda during her visit to the Croatian state includes the meeting with Prime Minister Andrej Plenković as well as with the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Gordan Jandroković. President Osmani will also visit the municipality of Rijeka, where, she will also be meeting with the Albanian community residing in this municipality.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received today Admiral Stuart B. Munsch, Commander of NATO’s Allied Joint Forces Command based in Naples. She thanked him for NATO’s continued support in maintaining stability and peace in Kosovo and the region, following Serbia’s act of aggression and terrorist attack on Kosovo on September 24th. President Osmani emphasized the necessity for concrete measures to be taken against Serbia following the act of aggression and terrorist attack by paramilitary and criminal groups led on the ground by Milan Radojčić and politically by Aleksandar Vučić. She underlined that Serbia should withdraw its military troops from the border with Kosovo as they pose a danger to peace and stability in the region. She praised KFOR and NATO’s increased commitment in boosting of the security along the Kosovo-Serbia border and considered it as a necessary action to prevent the repetition of the act that occurred on September 24th. The importance of close cooperation between the security institutions of Kosovo and those of NATO, in dealing with security challenges in the country and the region, was also stressed at the meeting.
