On the eve of the United Nations Security Council meeting, the President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani met with the US alternate representative at the UN Security Council, Ambassador Robert A. I informed him on recent security developments and we discussed the importance of continued cooperation with allies to tackle shared challenges.

President Osmani’s statement following the conclusion of the voting process in the four northern municipalities of Kosovo
Kosovo provided the citizens of the northern municipalities the opportunity to discharge from duty the current mayors and elect new ones. Citizens, to a large extent, did not take advantage of this opportunity. Unfortunately, this mainly happened due to the duress from Belgrade, executed by the Serbian List and illegal criminal structures. Once again, Serbia illegally interfered in another country’s electoral process. Once again, Vucic reneged on the word he had given to international partners. But, Kosovo once again demonstrated prudence, organization and full respect of the laws and the constitution, offering all communities, without distinction, the opportunity to choose for themselves who they want to represent them. I thank the Central Election Commission, our security institutions and our partners for their work, dedication and cooperation. With the organization of today’s process, Kosovo has fulfilled all the conditions required by the EU. Unjust measures against Kosovo must be lifted immediately.
President Osmani commemorated the anniversary of the massacre of the Mirena family
25 years ago, the Serbian genocidal regime forcefully abducted and killed 16 boys and men of the Mirena family in Nakaradë, Fushë Kosovë. Nothing was known about their fate until 2006, when their bodies were found in a mass grave in Batajnica, Belgrade. Bringing the perpetrators to justice is a must, hence our efforts will never stop. May the memory of all those who fell for freedom be eternal !
President Osmani traveled to the USA to represent Kosovo at the United Nations Security Council
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, departed for the USA to represent Kosovo at the UN Security Council session, which will be held on Monday. At the UNSC session, President Osmani is expected to speak on the progress, the implementation of reforms, human rights, democracy, the rule of law and other important areas for Kosovo. Madam President will also talk about the need for justice for the crimes committed by Serbia in Kosovo. During her stay in New York, President Osmani is expected to meet and coordinate with some of the permanent representatives of amicable countries at the United Nations. The UN Security Council meeting on Kosovo will be held on Monday at 16:00, Kosovo local time, respectively at 10:00 hours New York time.
President Osmani commemorated the anniversary of the massacres in the Gollak region
Between April 19 and 23, 1999, Serbian military and paramilitary forces barbarically killed numerous innocent civilians in the Gollak region, ranging in age from 7 to 98 years old. On April 21, 1999, 115 civilians of various ages were brutally tortured and killed in the village of Makoc in the Gollak region. Even after 25 years, justice has still not been served for the innocent lives lost, and the perpetrators have not received the punishment they deserve. Crime does not age, so justice must be served. May the memory of those who fell for freedom be eternal!

President Vjosa Osmani commemorates the anniversary of the fall of Hero Sali Çekaj
Sali Çekaj, in addition to being a military leader, was also a visionary politician and an excellent jurist, who was determined to achieve his ideal regardless of anything, and therefore fell heroically in KLA’s glorious Battle of Koshare. The breaking of the border between Albanians marked the achievement of that ideal, which he concretely commenced in 1991 when he carried out military training in Albania together with the KLA commander Adem Jashari and fellow fighter Zahir Pajaziti. His sensational political and military activity, his extraordinary qualities as a true organizer and leader, as well as his heroic fall in the glorious Battle of Koshare, make him one of the most outstanding personalities of Kosovo’s new history. May the memory of Hero Sali Çekaj be eternal!
President Osmani received diplomatic representatives of several member states of Council of Europe
Following the meetings related to the process of Kosovo’s accession to the Council of Europe, the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, received ambassadors and chargé d’affaires from the embassies of Sweden, Austria, the Netherlands, Finland, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Belgium. The representatives of these countries congratulated President Osmani on Kosovo’s success in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, whereas the President thanked them for their immense support in the voting at the Assembly. Further, President Osmani highlighted the importance of Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe as a decisive step towards increasing the effectiveness of human rights protection for all our citizens without discrimination, by giving them access to the human rights mechanisms that this organization provides. Opinions were exchanged at the meeting about the next stages of the process of Kosovo’s accession to CoE, as well as challenges and opportunities. President Osmani underlined that the support of these countries for Kosovo is also important at the last stage, at the voting that is going to take place in May, in the Committee of Ministers. In this context, President Osmani reiterated Kosovo’s firm commitment to preserving European values and standards, stressing the progress achieved in strengthening democratic institutions, promoting rule of law and human rights protection. In the upcoming days, the President is going to meet representatives of other member states of the Council of Europe.
