President Osmani paid homage in Vërboc and Shtutica in honor of the 280 martyrs of this region and 43 fallen KLA heroes

 The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani paid her tribute in Vërboc and Shtutica, on the 25th anniversary of the massacres in these two villages and in the surrounding villages: Tërstenik, Dashec, Baks and Globar, where the forces of the Serbian genocidal regime on April 30th 1999, brutally killed 280 Albanian civilians. “The closer to freedom, the brutality of the forces of the Serbian genocidal regime increased and manifested itself in the most inhuman way, hence in their offensive they killed 280 inhabitants of this zone just because they were Albanians. The KLA girls and boys of the KLA, headed by commander Ilaz Kodra, were put in defense of the civilian population. In the face of the brutality of the criminal regime, Ilaz with 42 fellow fighters stood with courage and determination until the final sacrifice. They fell on the battlefield, becoming immortal”, emphasized President Osmani. Madam President added that the sacrifice of the heroes and martyrs of the KLA will never be forgotten, while their courage will always be remembered.

President Osmani commemorated the hero Ilaz Kodra on the 25th anniversary of his fall

Today, on the 25th anniversary of the heroic fall, we respectfully remember the hero Ilaz Kodra, one of the frontline fighters of the KLA, alongside the commander-in-chief Adem Jashari. Ilaz remains an example of a fighter with a cause, who put the fate of his people above his personal fate, thus making him our hero. He will remain a guide for generations to come and just as he was the guardian of the civilian population from the Serbian genocidal regime then, today he is the guardian of freedom and our state together with the other heroes of the KLA. May the memory be eternal for all those who fell for freedom!  

President Osmani, together with Speaker Konjufca and Deputy Speaker Bogujevci paid tribute to former MP Ali Lajçi

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, together with the Speaker of the Assembly Glauk Konjufca and the Deputy Speaker Saranda Bogujevci, paid tribute to the political activist, the former mayor of Peja and the deputy of the Assembly of Kosovo in several legislatures, Mr. Ali Lajci. President Osmani conveyed her condolences to the family, friends and associates of Mr. Lajçi, and said that he will be remembered for his tireless patriotic activity throughout his life.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, on the eve of the official commencement of the Compact Program, met with Mr. Cameron Alford, vice president at Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) today. The official commencement of the Compact Program was discussed at the meeting, with President Osmani emphasizing that the grant of over 200 million euros from the MCC will profoundly transform our energy sector. Furthermore, President Osmani added that this program will make a strategic contribution to the improvement of the energy infrastructure, strengthen the private sector as well as promote economic opportunities for the citizens of Kosovo. In this spirit, President Osmani expressed her gratitude for the continuous support by the MCC, while emphasizing that the Compact Program is the largest investment in the field of energy and serves as a proof of the strength of the Kosovo-USA partnership. Madam President also emphasized that this program will guarantee an energy future where women will have a key role and will be active contributors in addressing future challenges in the field of energy.

President Osmani received the representatives of the family members of the forcibly disappeared

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Dr. Vjosa Osmani Sadriu, as part of the activities to mark the National Day of the Forcibly Disappeared, hosted a meeting with a group of representatives of the family members of the missing persons headed by Mr. Bajram Qerkini, director of the Resource Center for Missing Persons, at the same time coordinator of the Coordinating Council of the Family Associations of the Missing Persons of Kosovo. President Osmani emphasized that bringing to light the fate of the forcibly disappeared is one of the most serious wounds that Kosovo has even 25 years after the war. Unfortunately, Serbia still keeps its archives closed, despite the Brussels agreement that obligates it to open them. President Osmani reaffirmed her commitment and effort not only to find out the fate of the forcibly disappeared by but also to bring justice to them.
